It’s no surprise that there’s a second next-gen console from Microsoft that’s yet to be revealed to the public. It’s codenamed – Project Lockhart, also known as Xbox Series S. Series S will be a bit lighter in price and specs both, aiming for a budget-friendly audience out there. A new report shows that despite the lower specs, Xbox Series S won’t hold back any next-gen games.
This news comes from The Verge’s Tom Warren, who is a well-known industry insider, said in his tweet that Teraflops is not the key for next-gen consoles. “I’ve been saying for a year that CPU and SSD are key to next-gen consoles, not teraflops,” said Warren in a tweet. “Developers are saying the same thing. I’ve also been saying Lockhart won’t undermine next-gen games…”
When asked about the SSD comparison between Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, Warren said, “no the XSX is more powerful on paper. They both have fast SSDs, but beyond that baseline obviously, the GPU and CPU perf is going to matter.”
Microsoft is yet to reveal the launch titles and other games for their next-gen consoles. We are hoping for that reveal to be very soon now, presumably, in early May. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments!
Xbox Series X will be out holidays 2020.
