Bungie has officially responded to a player’s claims of weighted weapon perks in Destiny 2’s new Vesper’s Host dungeon, addressing concerns about unfair grenade launcher perk drops.
Destiny 2’s latest dungeon, Vesper’s Host, was officially released this month, kicking off the first-ever Dungeon Race in the game. Similar to other dungeons, Vesper’s Host has its own new set of weapons and armor.
One of the standout weapons in this dungeon is the VS Chill Inhibitor grenade launcher, highly sought after by players for its perk combinations. But yesterday, SparkD2_ shared a thread on X (Twitter) suggesting that certain perks—like Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch—were being weighted, making it nearly impossible to get the “god” roll many players were hunting for.
The player even went so far as to run a Binomial test to back up their theory, collecting data from multiple players’ runs of the first encounter, Activation, in Vesper’s Host.
Naturally, this stirred up a bit of chaos in the community, with some players feeling that the weapon drops in the new dungeon are rigged. The good news is that Bungie has now provided an official comment on this situation.
Bungie Shuts Down Rumors of Weighted Weapon Perk Rolls in Destiny 2
In a tweet from the official Destiny 2 Team X (Twitter) account, Bungie addressed the claim, denying any intentional weighting of perks for legendary weapons in the game. It stated, “There is no perk weighting active for any legendary weapon perks in Destiny 2.”
Bungie did, however, confirm the addition of a perk attunement system for Exotic Class Items that was added with Episode Revenant: “We have added perk attunement for Exotic Class Items in a recent update, but that’s a different system.”
Bungie’s response seems to put the issue to rest, assuring players that perk drops in Vesper’s Host remain are not rigged.
