PlayStation’s Lego Horizon Adventures launched to lower-than-expected player numbers on Steam, debuting with fewer Day 1 players than even Concord.
Lego Horizon Adventures, the newest co-op title from Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo, officially released today! It’s a fresh take on the Horizon series, blending action-adventure gameplay with the quirky, family-friendly world of Lego.
The game, available on PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch, reimagines the Horizon Zero Dawn storyline within a Lego-themed environment, showcasing vibrant, all-Lego settings and a unique isometric viewpoint.
But for a game meant to appeal to fans of both Lego and Horizon, Lego Horizon Adventures has had a rocky start, at least on Steam.
Lego Horizon Adventures Day 1 Steam Player Count
Surprisingly, Lego Horizon Adventures’ Day 1 peak concurrent player count was lower than the recent flop Concord, which debuted on Steam with fewer than 700 players. While Concord peaked at 697 players, Lego Horizon reached only 602 players on Day 1, according to Steamdb.info.
For a game with a premium price tag of $59.99, Lego Horizon Adventures’ Day 1 performance raises questions about whether its price might be holding some players back, especially on Steam. Another point might be that this game seems very console centric.
It’s worth noting that this is a multi-console title available on PS5, and Switch, in addition to Steam, which may have contributed to its lower numbers there. But even considering this broader availability, the initial response on Steam seems not-so-good.
The game’s debut also arrived to mixed reviews from critics, receiving a 71 on Metacritic. While Lego Horizon holds potential for fans of family-friendly games, early numbers suggest it may face an uphill battle to build momentum.
As for Concord, Sony announced in September that is taking the game offline due to underperformance. A month later, Hermen Hulst announced that Sony is shutting down Firewalk Studios, the developer behind Concord.
