Ubisoft is reportedly developing a new unannounced AAAA game following Skull and Bones.

Ubisoft’s “AAAA” game ambitions are far from over. Following the tumultuous development of Skull and Bones, the studio seems to have another massive project in the works. Skull and Bones has been a focal point of industry discussion, with Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot boldly describing it as a “quadruple-A game.”

This label was meant to highlight the game’s extensive development, significant budget, and the $70 price tag. Ever since its release earlier this year, Skull and Bones has seen mixed reactions from players and critics alike.

Despite the skepticism, Ubisoft appears undeterred in pursuing high-budget, large-scale projects. New evidence suggests the company is already deep into development on another unannounced “AAAA” game.

Ubisoft Seemingly Working on a New Unannounced AAAA Title

This is according to a LinkedIn profile of a Junior Sound Designer at Ubisoft Indian Studios. The employee’s job description states they are “responsible for creating sound design, SFX, and foley for unannounced AAA and AAAA game projects.” (thanks, Timur222)

The exact nature of this unannounced project remains a mystery, the mention of a “AAAA” designation suggests it could rival Skull and Bones in scale, ambition, and production value. As of right now, there are no additional details available for these unannounced projects the company is working on.

Ubisoft’s commitment to Skull and Bones doesn’t end with its long-awaited launch. According to a report by Insider Gaming, the studio already has plans for a second year of post-launch content.

Interestingly, CD Projekt RED’s VP of Investor Relations, Karolina Gnaś, poked fun at Ubisoft’s use of the “AAAA” label, jokingly suggesting their studio will now make “AAAAA” games. “Ours will be AAAAA,” Gnaś said.

The company officially revealed the highly anticipated The Witcher 4 during The Game Awards earlier this month. The game marks the beginning of a new saga in The Witcher universe, with Ciri taking center stage as the main protagonist.

In related news, Ubisoft has announced that it is shutting down its arcade shooter XDefiant in June 2025 after the final Season 3 content update.
