Bungie has confirmed that Exotic Glaives and class-based Swords will remain unlocked across all classes in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2’s latest episode, Heresy, has brought plenty of fresh content for players to sink their teeth into, including new Hive storylines, activities, and gear. But with all the new stuff, players quickly noticed that the Exotic Glaives and certain Swords, which were originally locked to specific classes, were suddenly available to everyone.
At first, Bungie acknowledged the situation and said it was just a bug, not an intentional change. However, instead of rushing to fix it, they told players to enjoy it while it lasted. Now, the developer has officially decided to keep it in the game.
Destiny 2 Class-Specific Exotic Glaives and Swords Update
In the latest This Week in Destiny blog post, Bungie addressed the class-specific exotic Glaives and legendary swords bug and confirmed that it’s here to stay. The developers originally planned to patch it out, but after seeing the community’s reaction, it reconsidered.
According to Bungie, this all happened because of backend changes to how weapons and rewards are structured. When these systems were updated, the class restrictions on Exotic Glaives and a few Swords accidentally got removed. But instead of walking it back, the team decided to embrace the change.
“We’ve been seeing some great celebrations with the removal of these constraints,” Bungie said in the blog post. “Our first reactions were focused more towards fixing the issue as we want to retain strong class-based fantasies within Destiny, and the removal of class locks muddies the water a bit.
“After some discussions between team members, we’ve arrived at a new decision: we’re going to let this ride. A fun example of a bug becoming a feature.”
The class-specific legendary swords and exotic Glaives in Destiny 2 are:
- Quickfang
- Crown Splitter
- Eternity’s Edge
- Edge Of Intent
- Edge Of Action
- Edge Of Concurrence
With this update, Hunters can now use Titan and Warlock Glaives, Titans can go full ninja mode with Quickfang. Bungie did mention that some of these animations might look a little weird since they weren’t designed for all classes.
In other Bungie-related news, Sony has now responded to the massive $200M lawsuit from former Marathon game director Chris Barrett, revealing the “disturbing” text messages Barrett sent to some of the lower-level female employees.
