Sony Santa Monica just posted new job listings, and the wording suggests it is working on something God of War-related.

The God of War series has been a powerhouse in gaming for nearly two decades. From Kratos’ rage-fueled journey through Greek mythology to his emotional evolution in the Norse saga, these games have consistently delivered unforgettable stories and top-tier action. The latest installment, God of War Ragnarok, wrapped up the Norse storyline, leaving fans wondering what’s next.

Rumors have been going around about two potential God of War projects in the works, a remaster of the older Greek mythology games and a brand-new title exploring Egyptian mythology. Now, new job listings from Sony Santa Monica seem to add even more weight to the speculation.

New Job Listings Suggests New God of War Project In Development

Sony Santa Monica recently posted two new job listings on its website—one for a Quest Designer and another for a Sr. Technical Narrative Designer (spotted by The Game Post). On the surface, this might not seem like much, but a closer look at the requirements revealed some interesting details.

The job descriptions begin with the same introduction:

“We are seeking a Sr Narrative Designer for the development of a new unannounced title! If you love collaborating with talented developers to create genre-defining games, join us as we embark on a new journey.”

That doesn’t give much away, but what really stands out is a key requirement listed further down: “Knowledge of competitive products as well as a personal understanding of God of War games.”

That’s a major clue that whatever this project is, God of War knowledge is a must. This could mean a few things. One possibility is that this is related to the rumored God of War remasters, which would bring Kratos’ original Greek mythology adventures to modern platforms. With God of War’s 20th anniversary coming up, a remaster announcement wouldn’t be surprising.

Another option is the rumored God of War game set in Egyptian mythology. We know from past developer interviews that Sony Santa Monica considered an Egyptian setting before choosing Norse mythology for the 2018 reboot. Maybe now the developer is finally moving forward with that idea.

There’s also the chance that these job listings are for the studio’s entirely new IP, which was recently confirmed to be in development. If that’s the case, then the mention of God of War experience could just mean it wants someone familiar with the company’s past work.

With all these possibilities in mind, it’ll be interesting to see what Sony Santa Monica announces in the coming months. Reports have suggested that God of War remasters could be revealed soon, so it may not be long before we get some answers.
