And now, it appears leaks have already surfaced about what’s coming next.

The upcoming Acts 2 and 3 are expected to bring back a familiar location, introduce a boss rush mode, and feature a returning Destiny 1 strike. In this article, we’ll talk about everything that’s coming to Destiny 2 Episode Heresy, per datamined leaks.

Important

This article contains information based on datamined leaks. We suggest taking everything with a grain of salt.

Destiny 2 Heresy: New Court of Blades Seasonal Activity

One of the biggest additions expected in Episode Heresy is Court of Blades, a new activity that takes heavy inspiration from Court of Oryx in Destiny 1. This mode features three different variants: Blood of Oryx, Lucent Brood, and Wrathborn.

According to the leaked details, players will battle through a boss rush mode with preparation phases in between. As the difficulty ramps up, players will need to use “Rune Mechanics” to acquire “Court Armaments.”

  • Rune Mechanics: Defeating Challengers will grant Rune Progress. Receiving Rune Progress while not holding a Rune will provide one. Further progress will charge the Rune, eventually upgrading it to higher tiers. There are Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III Runes.

Depending on your chosen path—Resolve or Ambition—certain armaments may be restricted. Here’s a list of items you can buy with Runes:

  • Boons (Minor, Major, and Corrupted)
  • Buffs and Perks
  • Tactical Advantages (Vanguard Turrets, Taken Portals, Transcendent Pools, Rally Buffs, etc.)
  • Relic Weapons (Hive Sword, Solar Scythe, Synaptic Spear, and a Void Coalescence)

Additionally, the “Augments Mechanic” will add new layers of challenge. Some enemies will have special abilities that require players to complete specific objectives to remove. For example, Adapt forces players to match elemental shields, while Bound makes enemies immune unless separated.

  • Augments Mechanic: Some enemies may have unique qualities indicated by a visual effect around them. These effects indicate an Augmentation is active, which can be removed by completing an Augmentation Objective.

According to the leaks, it appears Io will be part of this new activity in some way. While Court of Blades is mentioned in the leaks, it is currently unknown whether it will launch in Act 2 or Act 3.

Sunless Cell Strike Returning in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy

Destiny 1 players might remember Sunless Cell, a strike set deep within the Hive’s underground prison, and fight Alak-Hul, the Darkblade. According to the leaks, this fan-favorite activity is set to return in Episode Heresy, though it’s unclear whether it will launch with Act 2 or Act 3.
