Marvel Rivals had a strong start when it was released in December 2024. The game brings together a bunch of heroes and villains from across the Marvel Universe, throwing them into fast-paced 6v6 battles with unique abilities and dynamic environments.
Season 1 also launched with some serious star power, introducing the Fantastic Four as playable characters. Now that the season is wrapping up, all eyes are on what’s next. And yes, Season 2 is already heating up, thanks to several leaks and teases.
In this article, we’re breaking down everything you need to know, including new characters like Emma Frost and Ultron, leaked maps, Blade, their abilities, patch notes for the new update, and even a mysterious greeting message.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 Release Date and Time
If the in-game countdown is anything to go by, Marvel Rivals Season 2 is expected to launch on April 11, 2025. That’s also when Season 1’s Battle Pass and the “Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure” event come to a close.
So, if you’ve got rewards left to earn or missions to finish, now’s the time.
New Characters in Marvel Rivals Season 2
Leaks and teases have pointed toward some exciting additions for the next season. Here’s who might be joining the fight:
Blade:
You might’ve noticed Blade locked up in the Central Park map during Season 1. Now he’s rumored to be a playable character. Leaks suggest his kit will include close-range melee attacks and healing abilities tied to his vampire nature.
Ultron:
Ultron’s name has popped up in datamines and he’s even featured on some official merch. He’s likely going to be a Strategist character who uses drones to assist allies, maybe through healing, shielding, or dealing damage over time.
Emma Frost:
With the upcoming season possibly themed around the Hellfire Gala, Emma Frost is a perfect fit. Known for her psychic powers and diamond form in the comics, she could bring both offensive and defensive utility.
Marvel Rivals All Blade Abilities Leak
Here’s the full list of all Blade’s abilities, per datamined and leaked information:
- Primary Attack – Stomp and Slash: This is likely his main offensive move, using his katana to dish out big bursts of damage. It sounds like something that could knock out enemies before they even know what hit them.
- Passive – Bloodline Liberation: Blade might be able to spot enemies through walls, similar to how The Punisher works in the game. The trigger for this isn’t confirmed—he might need to deal damage first or meet another condition.
- The Dark Knight Attack: A fast dash that helps Blade either get into the fight quickly or back out when things get too hot. It’s unclear if it deals damage, but it should make him very mobile, especially for chasing or dodging.
- Fang Deflect: A defensive ability where Blade can reflect incoming projectiles with his sword. This gives him a way to stay aggressive even against ranged heroes.
- Ultimate – New Moon: Blade transforms into a full vampire. This mode might boost all of his stats and give him a new set of powers. There’s also a good chance he’ll be able to heal himself when attacking enemies during this form.
Marvel Rivals All Ultron Abilities Leak
Here’s the full list of all Ultron’s abilities, per datamined and leaked information:
- Passive: Algorithm Correction: Hold Space to fall slowly while airborne.
- Shift: Dynamic Flight: Quickly dashes in the direction of movement, then enters free-flight mode
- E Ability: Imperative – Patch: Commands a giant drone to follow an ally, constantly healing allies within its radius, with additional healing for the designated ally.
- RMB Ability: Imperative – Firewall: Summons drones to grant bonus health to nearby allies, centered on Ultron and the ally marked with Imperative: Patch.
- Ultimate: Rage of Ultron: Summons Ultron Drones to fire Encephalo-Rays, which can damage enemies or heal allies.
Marvel Rivals All Emma Frost Abilities Leak
Emma Frost might be a dual-form character, meaning she might switch between Human Form and Diamond Form mid-match, kind of like Cloak & Dagger. Here’s the full list of all her abilities, per datamined and leaked information:
Human Form Abilities:
- Psychic Blast: Likely her main way of dealing damage from range.
- Psychic Ray / Psychic Ray 2: Possibly her alternate fire or special ranged attacks with different effects.
- Psychic Barrier: A defensive move that probably blocks damage or projectiles.
- Diamond Form (Shift Skill): This transforms her into a more defensive version of herself with new abilities.
Diamond Form Abilities:
- Diamond Shock / Diamond Kick / Diamond Back Slam: These sound like powerful melee or close-range attacks.
- Piercing Spike: Likely a heavy-hitting ability meant to break through defenses.
- Soul Control / Mind Control / Mind Connection: These could be status effect abilities, maybe stunning or confusing enemies.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 Leaked Map
Marvel Rivals Season 2 is bringing us a new battlefield: Krakoa, the island home of the mutants from the comics. There’s also mention of Arakko, which is Mars in Marvel’s current storyline. Both locations tie directly into the rumored Hellfire Gala theme.
Expect bright visuals, unique layout design, and maybe even map mechanics tied to mutant tech or environments. No exact layout or gameplay features have been revealed yet.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 Leaked Greeting Message
A greeting message was found in the files, and it may hint at the new theme or storyline direction for Season 2. Here’s what it says:
“There’s no doubt about it—the Krakoan Era is legendary, a treasure trove of countless masterpieces and brilliant creative sparks. We still believe it stands as one of the greatest comic narratives of our time. Its storyline is so captivating that when we reached the endings of House of X and Powers of X—watching Charles and Erik stand side by side on the Carousel at the shore of destiny, gazing skyward as fireworks burst into life—we were moved to our core. It was our love for that breathtaking moment that unified our resolve to introduce Krakoa and its limitless potential into Marvel Rivals.
“It was the Dawn of X—and now, the dawn of Season 2 of Marvel Rivals.
“After the inaugural Hellfire Gala, the Mutants’ meticulously crafted fireworks show once again left us awestruck. Emma Frost’s telepathic projections seemed to materialize right before our eyes, as the barren landscape of Mars transformed into a thriving sanctuary housing Krakoa’s sister: Arakko. In that electrifying moment, we decisively welcomed both the Hellfire Gala and Arakko into Marvel Rivals, ushering in a plan for new heroes, epic maps, and an entirely fresh series of costumes.
“While we were passionately and tirelessly preparing every detail for the Hellfire Gala more recently, we had scarcely realized that the Krakoan Era had spanned five years. Although we felt deep regret as it ended, that era closed with a perfect finality.
“We count ourselves incredibly fortunate to carry on the beloved story of Krakoa in Marvel Rivals—where the stunning visions of true creative geniuses have been transformed into heroes you can truly control and battlegrounds you can explore. At the same time, we felt an immense weight of pressure, knowing we might not single-handedly capture a Krakoan story of “true Krakoan caliber.”
“We even sensed an echo of that bittersweet comic narrative—the fall of Krakoa at the hands of a mechanical menace—as we planned for the invasion of the fan-favorite Super Villain. We once again breathed in that sorrow. In Season 2, we endeavor to keep the spirit of Krakoa alive in our game and remain determined to continuously optimize Marvel Rivals, delivering ever more content and an even better gaming experience.
“Krakoa is the homeland of Mutants, and on the day of the Hellfire Gala, its gates swing wide open to any and all invited guests. We extend our heartfelt invitation to every player—wherever you may be— as today, Krakoa eagerly awaits your arrival.
“We hope that everything we’ve done within Marvel Rivals and across the Chronoverses will keep the flame of Krakoa burning bright. This living, breathing island yearns for new residents, the Hellfire Gala beckons new guests—and we are thrilled to welcome back those long-time friends as well.
“Tonight at 11:45 PM, during the scheduled fireworks show at the Hellfire Gala, when the sky ignites with shimmering light and the hall overflows with celebration, we hope that together we can echo those very words that once shook us—and inspired the creation of the Hellfire Gala season. The words that Magneto and his steadfast friend proclaimed at the Dawn of X:
“Just look at what we have made.”
