Bungie has updated Destiny 2’s ban policy to target AFK macro loot farming, enforcing new rules against automated gameplay while preserving accessibility options for legitimate users.
Bungie has taken a firm stance against AFK (Away From Keyboard) farming in Destiny 2, specifically targeting players who use input macros to automate gameplay.
In a recent update to its Account Restriction and Banning policies, the developer made it clear that the use of input macros to farm loot without actively participating in the game will no longer be tolerated.

For a while now, players have been using macros to bypass idle detection and earn in-game rewards without actively playing. This has become a significant concern in the Destiny 2 community, especially when it comes to farming newly released rewards such as exotic class items.
Bungie Cracks Down on AFK Farming in Destiny 2
In response, Bungie issued a detailed statement earlier today, announcing the updated policy. You can read the full statement shared in the DestinyTheGame subreddit as well as the official Discord server for Destiny 2 below.
“Starting today, we have revised our Restriction and Ban policy to include the use of input macros to automate gameplay. While input macros can be a beneficial accessibility tool for many—and we intend to keep it that way—some have been leveraging these tools to automate gameplay.
“Players detected using automation to circumvent idle detection or perform automated activities to earn loot may be restricted or banned. Loot includes, but is not limited to, XP, materials, or drops (e.g. Exotic class items). Automation or circumvention includes, but is not limited to, the use of programmable controllers, keyboard/mouse adapters, advanced macros, or artificial intelligence.
“We have no plans to retroactively issue bans or restrictions to anyone, and any bans or restrictions related to this policy change will be issued for future infractions. Players who are currently using or have used macros for the above purposes may receive an in-game message warning against the future use of macros. Additionally, a small amount of account actions have been issued over the last few days for unrelated Terms of Use violations.
As a final note, accessibility in games is important to us. As we continue to look at opportunities within Destiny 2 to expand upon accessibility options, we want to ensure players who are using macros for the purpose of accessibility will not be actioned upon.”

Bungie also made it clear that this policy is not retroactive, meaning that players who have previously used macros will not be punished. However, those who continue to do so after this update could face serious consequences, ranging from in-game warnings to full account bans.
As always, players are encouraged to review the full details of Bungie’s Account Restriction and Banning policies to ensure they are in compliance with the latest rules and regulations.
