Bungie is putting a stop to crouch spamming in Destiny 2’s Crucible with an upcoming update in the episode Revenant.

If you’ve played Destiny 2’s Crucible, you’ve probably encountered crouch spamming. It’s a frustrating tactic where players rapidly crouch during gunfights. This quick up-and-down movement disrupts the hitbox, making it difficult for opponents to land shots.

Primarily used in PvP, crouch spamming can be done manually, but more often, players rely on macros or third-party devices like Cronus Zen and Xim on consoles to spam crouches faster than a normal player would be able to.

Now, it looks like Bungie is stepping in to address the issue.

Destiny 2 Gets a Crouch Spamming Limit in Episode Revenant

Yesterday, Bungie announced a change coming in Destiny 2 Episode Revenant to combat crouch spamming. In its weekly blog, This Week in Destiny, Bungie revealed that a cap on the number of crouch inputs per second will soon be added, “to equalize Hold to Crouch with Toggle Crouch in terms of its behavior”.

According to Bungie, this update will place limits on both manual crouch spamming and automated macros. The developer explained that the goal isn’t to punish legitimate tactical crouching during PvP engagements but rather to target those who abuse the mechanic.

“In [Episode] Revenant we are going to be placing a cap on the amount of crouch inputs you can enter per second to equalize Hold to Crouch with Toggle Crouch in terms of its behavior,” Bungie explained in This Week In Destiny blog article.

“This limit is something that can be tuned, and because a tactical crouch or two during an engagement is an expression of skill and not something we want to discourage, we verified in our playtesting that our first pass was set so that it would be difficult to tell a limit existed if you were crouching at a normal cadence.

“However, our goal is to reduce the amount of untargeted crouch spamming, done either manually or via macros, encountered while playing Crucible, and we can further change the value as needed to prevent this behavior.”

This change aims to level the playing field in Crucible by reducing “untargeted crouch spamming,” which Bungie says will help create a fairer and more enjoyable PvP experience. The crouch spamming cap is set to arrive soon, with the changes coming as part of the next big update in Destiny 2 Episode Revenant.

In other news, Ring-1, one of Destiny 2’s biggest cheat providers has announced that it is discontinuing its Destiny 2 cheats. This comes following a series of lawsuits from Bungie and Ubisoft.
