Bungie has finally confirmed that Destiny 2 is saying goodbye to bounties with a newly announced system called “Orders” coming with the Renegades expansion.

Following the Portal in Edge of Fate, Destiny 2 is getting another big system with its next expansion, Renegades, launching on December 2, 2025. The Star Wars-inspired expansion will add the new Lawless Frontier mode, Tharsis Outpost social hub, and some friendly Vex. Alongside this new content, Bungie has been making major adjustments leading up to this launch.

Over the past few weeks, Destiny 2 has seen a series of major changes and rollbacks. The unpopular Unstable Cores infusion currency has been completely removed, seasonal Power resets are no longer happening with each expansion, and a number of Edge of Fate systems have been reworked or scrapped based on community feedback.

And now, Bungie has just revealed another major change coming with Renegades: the Orders system.

Destiny 2 Adding “Orders” System With Renegades

In this week’s This Week in Destiny (TWID) blog, Bungie announced “Orders,” a new feature debuting with Renegades. Orders are described as a more natural, less grindy way to earn rewards compared to the old bounty system that forced players to pick up and micro-manage tasks from different vendors. The devs also confirmed that Orders will be replacing Bounties and Seasonal Challenges found in the game right now.

“Orders will be part of the improved Seasonal Hub that’s launching along with Renegades,” Bungie said. “While you’ll see your active orders in the Portal main screen, the new Overview tab in the Seasonal Hub is where you’ll also find them alongside your daily and weekly objectives as well as the weekly rewards.”

“This system will be replacing Bounties and Seasonal Challenges with a more approachable set of objectives that rewards players consistently for their time spent in Destiny 2, be it 10 minutes or 2 hours.”

Unlike the old system, Orders are automatically granted when you log in. You don’t need to visit vendors or manually pick them up. Most Common Orders are tailored to what you’re currently using or playing, so if you’re running a certain weapon type or subclass, the game will generate Orders that naturally fit your activity. Bungie says this will help cut down on the constant loadout swapping or activity hopping that came with bounties.

Orders come in three tiers:

  • Common
  • Legendary
  • Exotic

Completing an Order gives you another one and a matching reward, called a “Payout.” As you play, there’s a chance that completing an Order upgrades it to a higher tier, with Legendary Orders offering better rewards and Exotic Orders delivering the best loot and Bright Dust bonuses. The system even shows a meter on the Overview page that tracks your chances of an upgrade, so you can see when you’re close to earning the higher tier.

Players can also reroll Orders if they don’t like what they get, spending a bit of Glimmer to replace them with a random one of the same tier. The reroll cost rises with each use, but completing Common Orders reduces that cost back toward the base amount, so you can keep things moving without wasting too much currency.

Bungie also mentioned that team play counts toward most Common Orders. Progress is shared across your fireteam, meaning you don’t have to compete for kills or objectives anymore. In PvP, Crucible matches will automatically complete a few Orders for you at the end of each game, rewarding players who focus on the match rather than completing specific objectives.

Another major piece of the Orders system ties into Bright Dust, Destiny 2’s earnable cosmetic currency used to purchase items in the Eververse store. Bungie confirmed that Orders will now be one of the main sources of Bright Dust moving forward, replacing the old Seasonal Challenges method.

You can earn up to 1,000 Bright Dust per week and 6,000 per season, with higher-tier Orders giving more. Bungie did note that rewards (Order Payouts) must be claimed from the Seasonal Hub before the season ends, otherwise, they expire.

Here’s how much Bright Dust you’ll get from completing Orders, along with their caps:

Is Bungie Removing Bounties in Destiny 2 Renegades?

Mostly, yes. Vendors like Banshee, Failsafe, and Devrim won’t offer bounties anymore after the launch of the Renegades expansion. However, not every bounty is gone. Bungie noted that a few vendors, like Petra Venj and Variks, will continue to offer daily and weekly bounties tied to their specific activities.

That’s pretty much everything you need to know about how Orders work in Renegades.
