Bungie has opened sign-ups for the smaller Marathon December community playtest, running December 12 to 16.
Bungie just kicked off sign-ups for a brand new Marathon playtest, and this one happens next month. If you remember the October test, that was the big one, around eighty thousand players across PS5, Xbox, and PC spent a week trying out the latest build under a strict NDA. That test was extended by two extra days, and Sony even brought it up on the quarterly earnings call to highlight the studio’s focus on gameplay feel and player retention.
Now Bungie is moving forward with another controlled round of testing. The team announced earlier today in the official Discord server that a December community playtest is locked in. This one is a tighter, more focused test, still under NDA, and aimed at players in North America only.

Marathon December Playtest dates and times
The Marathon December Community Playtest runs December 12 to December 16, every day from 2 PM to 8 PM PT.
To make it easy for other regions:
- Pacific Time (PT): 2 PM to 8 PM
- Eastern Time (ET): 5 PM to 11 PM
- UTC / GMT: 10 PM to 4 AM the next day
- Central Europe (CET): 11 PM to 5 AM the next day
How to sign up for Marathon December Playtest
There are two ways to sign up for Marathon’s December playtest. You can either join the official Marathon Discord server and go to the “playtest_access” channel. From there, use the command /playtest. That command gives you a personalized signup link tied to both your Bungie.net account and your Discord account.
Or, you can go to this page, log in to your platform account, and complete the sign-up form. After that, all you can do is wait. Invitations are sent by email in waves, not all at once. Playing in past alphas or NDA tests does not give automatic access this time, so everyone needs to sign up again.

Marathon December Playtest NDA Requirements
Just like the October playtest, the December playtest is under strict NDA. You are not allowed to stream, record, or share screenshots from the playtest, and you also cannot talk about your experience outside the NDA channels in the official Marathon Discord.
If you get access, Bungie will add your Discord username to the private NDA section, but that process can take up to twenty-four hours, and you need to already be in the server with the correct name for it to work. Bug reports will be handled in the NDA bug reporting channel, while general feedback will be collected through email surveys and in the NDA feedback channels, which is similar to how Bungie has handled earlier closed tests.
This playtest announcement drops right after Alberto Mielgo, director of the Marathon cinematic, publicly pushed back on claims that his short used AI tools or borrowed from the earlier art theft incident. He said the cinematic was made by a full team over months, and none of the plagiarized textures ever reached his side of production.

That’s everything we know so far. Are you planning to sign up for the December test? Let us know what you think of this in the comments below!
