Warlocks have had their fun skating around the Crucible, but Bungie has confirmed that a fix is coming for the Snap Skating movement trick in a future Destiny 2 update.
Destiny 2 players have been finding creative ways to move fast for years. From Wellskating with a sword to Hunters using Shatterskate for wild speed boosts, movement tricks have always been a part of the game.
For some time now, Warlocks have been using “Snap Skating,” a movement technique that lets them gain a bit of speed using Incinerator Snap and certain movement inputs. But it looks like this “unintended” tech won’t be around much longer as Bungie has confirmed a fix is coming.

Bungie Addresses Warlock Snap Skating in Destiny 2
The update comes directly from Bungie’s Destiny2Team channels, where the devs shared a Crucible tuning update earlier today. Alongside weapon balance changes and map adjustments, they confirmed that Snap Skating is on their radar and will be addressed in a future patch.
In short, Bungie sees Snap Skating as a problem for PvP balance. Not only does it let Warlocks zoom around too quickly, but it also makes them harder to hit since their character models can get distorted during the animation. While they didn’t provide a timeline for when this fix will arrive, it’s officially on the to-do list.
Here’s what Bungie had to say about it:
“Warlock ‘Snap Skating’ is an unintended movement technique that gives players some great advantages in map control and general movement during combat. While this can be enjoyable (and fun to master), this presents some rough balance issues within the PvP space – not just 3v3 modes, but 6v6 as well.
“Additionally, this is creating issues with readability of opponents mid combat; Guardian bodies can become warped/stretched when skating, making it very difficult to fight opponents mid-skate. In a future patch, we plan to address this.”
This wasn’t the only update Bungie shared. The team also discussed a handful of PvP changes, including nerfs to the Closing Time perk on Special ammo weapons, and adjustments to Tommy’s Matchbook hip-fire accuracy due to its synergy with Radiant Dance Machines.
In case you’re unfamiliar with this movement technique, here’s how it works:
