Hints from social media suggest that Destiny 2 composer Brendon Williams might be returning for Destiny 2’s upcoming Codename Apollo soundtrack, possibly joined by a new composer Nolan Markey.

Back in September 2024, Bungie laid out the roadmap for Destiny 2’s future, announcing two major expansions slated for 2025: Codename Apollo for summer and Codename Behemoth for winter.

While we don’t know much about the specifics of these expansions just yet, some intriguing hints are already trickling in, especially about the new soundtrack for Codename Apollo.

At the end of September 2024, several composers shared images from a recording session at Ocean Way Nashville Studios on social media, where Bungie has previously recorded music for Destiny expansions.

Among those posting were Pieter Schlosser, a familiar name to long-time Destiny fans, Brendon Williams, who contributed to the Destiny 2: Forsaken soundtrack, and Nolan Markey, known for his work on Ahsoka, Star Wars: Bad Batch, The Legend of Vox Machina, League of Legends, and more.

Williams shared a post on his Instagram featuring all three composers together at Ocean Way Nashville Studios, with the caption: “Back in Nashville recording for the first time since my pre-Riot days. Fortunate to get to work with some wonderful people and amazing players for this! Day 1: Strings”

The most intriguing detail came from music orchestrator Ella Feingold, who has been orchestrating Destiny’s music since 2015. One of the photos on her Instagram profile features a page with “BUNGIE” prominently displayed and a blacked-out subheading.

After a bit of editing, we found out that the blacked-out text said “Project Apollo,” indicating this recording session might be for Codename Apollo.

In one of Schlosser’s Instagram posts, he tagged Brendon Williams directly, captioning it: “Back in this gorgeous studio conducting! Thanks for the great pics, @brendoncomposer! And for your beautiful music, I get to conduct.”

The post garnered attention from fans, with one commenting, “I love Keep of Voices [from the Destiny 2: Forsaken soundtrack by Brendon Williams], happy to see Brendon Williams back in the studio.” Schlosser responded, saying, “Agreed! On both counts.”

While Bungie has not confirmed any official soundtrack details, recent posts hint that Brendon Williams could take a leading role in composing music for Codename Apollo, joined by Nolan Markey. It’s still unclear, however, if Markey will also contribute music to the expansion or be involved in another capacity.

This recording session holds extra significance given Bungie’s recent layoffs, which saw the departure of three long-time Destiny composers: Michael Salvatori, Michael Sechrist, and Skye Lewin. With this shakeup, it looks like Bungie may be bringing in some fresh talent.

Bungie did not respond to the request for a comment on this story.
