Destiny 2 is getting a Combined Arms-like PvP mode?

For longtime Destiny players, the idea of a Crucible mode with vehicles might stir up memories of the old Combined Arms mode from Destiny 1. Combined Arms was a large-scale PvP mode that featured vehicles like pikes and interceptors, offering a more expansive battlefield where vehicular combat played a significant role.

However, it’s unclear if this new PvP mode will play exactly like Combined Arms from Destiny 1. If these new rumors are to be believed, Bungie could be aiming to revive and refine that experience in Destiny 2.

Building on the foundation laid by last year’s Sparrow Control mode, this new mode might be just what many keen Destiny 2 PvP players have been waiting for.

Below, is the full list of everything Liz shared on Destiny 2’s content packs:

  • Moving away from 8 linear missions with one focused story, and more separate storylines which build into each other at the end.
  • Expected to have more content due to smaller seasons
  • Seems like they’re bringing back the Pale Heart destination mechanic, where you unlock more of the destination as you progress.
  • Working on a crucible mode with vehicles (tanks, interceptors, pikes)

Since these details come from rumors rather than directly from Bungie, it’s best to approach them with caution. Until officially announced, we suggest taking all this information with a grain of salt.

But that’s not all that’s been revealed about Destiny 2’s future. In the wake of Bungie’s recent layoffs—where 17% of the staff, or 220 employees, were let go—new details about the game’s content structure have come to light.

With several different reports from reputable sources, Destiny 2 is shifting away from its traditional annual expansions, opting instead for smaller content packs. Per recent rumors, it appears that Destiny 2 will get two DLCs or “content packs” per year, each with one accompanying season.

As mentioned above, these content packs are expected to move away from the typical eight linear missions focused on a single story. Instead, players can look forward to multiple storylines that weave together into a larger narrative by the end.
