Destiny 2 Players Have Modded The Game And Removed The Traveler

After three years of Destiny and four years of Destiny 2, the game has been modded by the fans, allowing them to customize almost anything. Destiny was originally released on consoles back in 2014, later Bungie officially ported the game to PC with the release of Destiny 2.

This comes from the combined efforts of two players in the Destiny community, Monteven, and GinsorKR. They have both been posting teasers and modded Destiny content on their Twitter for the past month.

Monteven teased this project back in October 2021 with a modified image of the Destiny 2 title screen that says,  Destiny Modded.

The most interesting and somewhat hilarious thing is that the modders have removed (misplaced) the Traveler from the game, as shown in one of Monteven’s tweets.

Sorry I misplaced the Traveler @GinsorKR; do you know where I might've left it? pic.twitter.com/Icfr9S65Xh

One of the first modded images posted on Twitter in min-November featured a Warlock with multiple Hunter and Titan exotic armor pieces equipped at the same time, which is impossible in the game. Take a look:

Apart from the character models and the Traveler, GinsorKR has also been able to customize and equip modded in-game emblems. Take a look:

Before we go any further, keep in mind that Bungie has explicitly mentioned in its Terms of Use that players are not allowed to “modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information, software, products or services obtained from the Bungie Services.”

“You may not otherwise reproduce, modify, distribute, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer any portion of the Bungie.net API or API Data,” it reads.

GinsorKR has also confirmed that this build will not see any public release from either them or Monteven. “There’s no way this stuff will ever be made public by me or mont. We likely give some more background for this in the near future, but nothing more,” they said.

While players may not be able to mod Destiny 2 themselves, this does open a lot of doors for some exciting stuff for the game. Maybe, we’ll some Thomas the Train instead of the Traveler? One can hope.
