Since the launch of Lightfall, there have been more questions than answers about what actually happened in the story campaign and what was “The Veil” that everyone knows about except The Guardian.

This led to much criticism inside the Destiny 2 community calling the Lightfall’s story campaign a step back from The Witch Queen’s story. The Good news is Destiny 2 game director, Joe Blackburn recently went on the Friends Per Second podcast where he answered some of the questions that players have post-Lightfall.

When Skill Up (Ralph Panebianco) asked about The Veil and what it is, Blackburn replied, “If we ever have a situation where players are like, ‘there’s this thing in the game and I want to learn more about it’ which is a situation Destiny has been in before, what we don’t want is, okay, they explained it in an out-of-game thing.

“What we’re really focused on right now, okay, we have a few elements that people need to know more about, let’s get that knowledge in the game, into this place, where it’s not [like] 6 months later, you’re like go watch this YouTube video to find out what this thing is. It should be, go play the game to figure it out.

“We’re definitely excited to learn more about The Veil this year, but sadly not tonight on this podcast.”

When Ralph asked if players could expect more information about The Veil sooner rather than later in-game, to which Blackburn replied, “yep”. Recently, Bungie has also revealed a new quest that players will embark on in Season of the Deep in which “players will explore the city to learn about the nature of the Veil through Osiris’s research and newly uncovered Ishtar Collective data”.

This quest will be available to all Lightfall players regardless of if you bought Season of the Deep or not. You can watch the full episode of the FPS podcast below.

Destiny 2 Lightfall is now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
