Bungie’s latest Destiny 2 survey mentions Grandmaster Raids, hinting at a possible new raid difficulty.

In Destiny 2, Grandmaster difficulty has been the pinnacle of challenge for players who enjoy pushing their limits. Currently, this difficulty level is reserved for Nightfall strikes and the recent post-raid mission, Excision, which was introduced with The Final Shape expansion.

In Grandmaster Nightfalls, players face highly aggressive enemies with tougher modifiers, requiring precise teamwork and strategy. But what if Bungie is planning to extend this difficulty to other endgame content like Raids?

Grandmaster Raids Coming to Destiny 2?

Earlier this week, a select group of Destiny 2 players received a closed survey asking about their overall experience with Episode Echoes: interest in seasonal activities, Power level cap, and rewards.

One particular question raised asked: “How has your level of interest in playing the following activities changed since the increase in seasonal Pinnacle Cap?” Among the options listed was Grand Master Raids—an activity that doesn’t currently exist in Destiny 2.

Other options include: Raids (normal), Dungeons, and Crucible, with the slider going from “Much less interested’ to “Much more interested”. Could this be a teaser for what’s to come?

Grand Master Raids would undoubtedly add another layer of endgame content for hardcore players, but it would also require better incentives. Bungie has faced criticism in the past for not offering grind-worthy rewards in higher-difficulty endgame content, and if Grandmaster Raids do become a reality, they’ll need to offer exclusive rewards that justify the struggle.

Of course, it’s also possible that this mention of “Grand Master Raids” was simply an error on Bungie’s part, possibly intended to say Master Raids instead. After all, Master difficulty Raids are already available and serve as a challenging experience, albeit not quite as punishing as Grandmaster content.

The survey also asked for feedback on the three-week gap between each Act, a major frustration for players during Episode Echoes. Many felt that the long breaks disrupted the story’s momentum and overall engagement.

Speaking of raids, Bungie has recently announced some big changes coming to Destiny 2’s raids and dungeons release schedule in 2025. With Codename Frontiers, Destiny 2 will only receive one raid and one dungeon annually. This also means that there will no longer be Dungeon Keys moving forward.
