Bungie officially revealed Weapon Crafting coming to Destiny 2 during its Destiny 2 Showcase last month on August 24, 2021. It’s one of the brand-new features coming to the game in the next major expansion – The Witch Queen.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Joe Blackburn, Destiny 2 game director went into detail about a lot of aspects of The Witch Queen including weapon crafting, campaign, Savathun’s throne world, and new Void subclass rework.

When asked about weapon crafting, Blackburn said players will be able to “make the exact god roll, you will have the ability to make all the versions of that gun that you want,” Blackburn replied.

“By the time you’re able to make the exact god roll, you will have the ability to make all the versions of that gun that you want. So it’s really about a long pursuit with a weapon.”

“And we think if you’re willing to spend that amount of time with the gun, we’re okay with you being able to craft whatever version you want.”

When asked about whether or not players will be able to gradually choose perk pools on weapons via the new weapon crafting system, Blackburn replied:

“Yep, yep. And I mean, without getting too specific, we still want guns to have unique identities. But when you go in for the first time, and see the recipe [of possible perks] you’re like: ‘Okay, this is all the things that I could do on this gun.’ This is the possibility space.”

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen is coming out on February 22, 2022, on PlayStation 5, 4, Xbox Series X/S, One, PC, and Stadia.
