Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris has reached its lowest player count in history, leaving fans worried and frustrated as Bungie remains silent on the game’s future.
Destiny 2‘s competitive PvP mode, Trials of Osiris, has hit a historic low, with only 75,474 players participating this past weekend. This marks the lowest player count since the mode was introduced in Destiny 2, reflecting growing discontent among the fans.
To put things into perspective, in 2024 alone, we’ve seen numbers fluctuate significantly: from a high of 283,436 on July 2, after the launch of The Final Shape expansion, to a dramatic fall to 75,476 by September 3.
In comparison, 2023 saw some solid numbers, like 542,874 on March 21, right after the launch of the highly-anticipated Lightfall expansion, and by the end of the year, there were still over 120,000 players playing the mode.

Several factors are contributing to this significant decline. Many players feel that Bungie has neglected PvP for too long, focusing more on PvE content and leaving the competitive scene in the background.
The end of the Light and Darkness saga, coupled with a lack of clear communication about the future of the franchise, has left players feeling uncertain and disengaged.
Adding fuel to the fire, recent layoffs at Bungie have only heightened concerns about the company’s direction. In addition, the highly-anticipated Call of Duty Black Ops 6 beta was released last week, further drawing players away from Destiny 2’s Trials of Osiris.
