Destiny 2’s new Vesper’s Host dungeon includes unique dialogue triggered by specific Exotic weapons. Here’s how it works!
Bungie has upped the ante with the recent release of Destiny 2 Vesper’s Host dungeon, which launched on October 11, 2024. This dungeon marked the game’s first-ever Dungeon Race and a Contest Mode specifically for dungeons.
In addition to the new weapons, armor, and the return of the fan-favorite Ice Breaker exotic sniper rifle, it looks like there are some unique interactions and dialogue that players can get by equipping certain Exotic weapons.
When you solve the opening puzzle and enter the airlock door, if you don’t have any of the specific Exotics equipped, you’ll get the default dialogue:
- Vesper Central: “BrayTech scan failed. Your gear is out of order.”
- Astraea: “BrayTech scan failed. Your gear’s out of order…”

Players have discovered that if you equip Outbreak Perfected exotic pulse rifle, Hierarchy of Needs exotic bow, or Final Warning exotic sidearm, you’ll get different dialogue in the dungeon. There’s also a fourth unique dialogue for “The Elsie Special” dungeon triumph.
- Outbreak Perfected: Equip the Outbreak Perfected exotic pulse rifle to hear the following dialogues.
- Vesper Central: “You’re contaminated with banned technology. Security will be alerted. Be more careful, all right?”
- Astraea: “Warmind tech. I can finally reach out to you, and you’re gone.”
- Hierarchy of Needs: Equip the Hierarchy of Needs exotic bow to hear the following dialogues.
- Vesper Central: “Interdicted machine intelligence. I don’t understand. I don’t understand.”
- Astraea: “Is that Soteria? Talk to me, sister. Why won’t you talk to me?”
- Final Warning: Equip the Final Warning exotic sidearm to hear the following dialogues.
- Vesper Central: ”Ishtar probe detected. Message from Dr. Bray reads: Corporate espionage, Maya? I expected better from you.”
- Astraea: ”Ishtar Collective circuitry. I’ve done some reading… I like this Dr. Sundaresh.”
- “The Elsie Special” Triumph: Equip only Pulse and Sniper Rifles in your loadout to hear the following dialogues.
- Vesper Central: ”BrayTech scan is clean. Have a safe and productive day.”
- Astraea: ”BrayTech scan is clean. But you are not one of my researchers.”
One interesting detail within Vesper’s Host is the AI NPC that you hear throughout the dungeon. When you first begin, the AI’s name appears as “Vesper Central” in the top right corner of the screen.
This is because, initially, her system is only partially unlocked. As you progress and solve more puzzles, you gain higher and higher clearance, gradually unlocking more of the AI. Eventually, completing the final big puzzle changes the AI’s name to “Astraea”.
