Just ahead of Dune: Awakening’s full launch, Funcom’s CEO has shared a heartfelt update, promising more servers, ongoing fixes, and years of planned content.

With less than 24 hours to go until Dune: Awakening officially launches, Funcom’s CEO, Rui Casais, has released a new video message to the community, and it’s full of appreciation, transparency, and long-term ambition.

In the video, posted on the game’s official YouTube channel, the CEO thanks players who joined during the “head start weekend” and highlights just how big the response has been. According to him, more than 117,000 players were online at the same time, and the game has already received a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.

“We’re Working Around the Clock”

“It’s incredibly humbling,” he said, praising players for their creativity and support. “You’ve come up with some of the most fun experiences we’ve seen.”

Funcom knows things haven’t been perfect. He acknowledged the server queues and connection issues players faced, especially during peak hours and right at launch. The main cause? Uneven player distribution across servers. To fix this, the team is opening more servers on June 10 to handle the full launch more smoothly.

“We’ll have shorter patching times and downtimes going forward,” he promised, adding that even small issues reported by a portion of players are being taken seriously.

He also shared a bit of behind-the-scenes context, saying that the Funcom team has been reacting live in their operations room, often surprised or amused by what players manage to do in-game.

With more than two decades of experience making online games, the CEO called Dune: Awakening his most exciting launch so far. And looking ahead, he made it clear that this is just the start.

“This is only the beginning,” he said. “We have years worth of plans for Dune: Awakening.”
