Bungie just revealed everything coming in Destiny 2 Episode: Heresy Act 2, including a new activity, new weapons, Guardian Games 2025, a wild new PvP mode, and a free dungeon event.
Destiny 2 Heresy Act 2 is just around the corner. The first act took players back to the Dreadnaught, with a new seasonal activity called The Nether. But that was just the beginning. Act 2 is launching soon, and Bungie has pulled back the curtain on what’s coming next in the Heresy Act 2 Developer Livestream.
If you missed the stream, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything Bungie revealed, including a new seasonal activity, Guardian Games 2025, new loot, a wild new PvP mode, and a massive free dungeon event.
Destiny 2 Heresy Act 2: Court of Blades Seasonal Activity
The biggest highlight of Act 2 is the Court of Blades, a new take on the classic Court of Oryx from Destiny 1: The Taken King. This new activity mixes fast-paced encounters with roguelike mechanics, meaning each run will feel different depending on the choices you make.
Each run in Court of Blades lasts around 10 minutes, making it much quicker than the Nether. You’ll travel through locations from old, vaulted planets like Io, fighting through multiple encounters where you can choose different Buffs and Augments. Some of these perks will straight-up boost your abilities, while others add extra challenges in exchange for better rewards.
Speaking of rewards, Adept weapons will be available for those tackling the Expert Mode version of this activity. And if you’re wondering about Oryx’s voice in Heresy, yes, Bungie officially confirmed that Joshua David King is the voice behind The Taken King.

Destiny 2 Heresy Act 3: New PvP Mode “Heavy Metal”
Now, let’s talk PvP. Bungie announced Heavy Metal, a brand-new Crucible mode that is completely different from anything we’ve seen before. Instead of playing as players on foot, players will pilot massive Fallen Brigs and Drake Tanks in a team-based vehicle combat.
And before you ask, yes, Drake Tanks can now do rocket-boosted backflips. Heavy Metal will be a limited-time PvP mode and is expected to launch sometime during Act 3.

Destiny 2 Heresy Act 3: Rite of the Nine Dungeon Event
During Heresy Act 3, Bungie is rolling out Rite of the Nine, a free, limited-time event centered around three dungeons:
- Prophecy
- Spire of the Watcher
- Ghosts of the Deep
Each dungeon is getting a set of revamped weapons, with 12 in total (4 from each dungeon). These weapons will have a Prophecy/Nine-themed aesthetic and will be updated with fresh perk pools. These also come with a new Origin Trait, Gravity Well, which states, “Reloading this weapon automatically gathers nearby ammo.”
If you want to farm specific weapons, Bungie is introducing an attunement system, similar to Into the Light, where you can increase drop chances for the weapons you want.
There will also be three difficulty options:
- Explorer Mode: A beginner-friendly mode with mechanic explanations, no encounter wipes, and faster respawns.
- Eternity Mode: The standard difficulty experience.
- Ultimatum Mode: Contest-level difficulty with extra modifiers for the most hardcore players.
On top of that, Bungie is adding some aspirational rewards for those who take on the toughest challenges, including five new emblems, earnable weapon cosmetics, and an event exclusive Seal/Title.
And, that’s pretty much all the major announcements made during the developer livestream for Heresy Act 2. Keep in mind that Act 2 launches next week on March 11, 2025, and Act 3 is coming three weeks later on April 1, 2025.
