Silksong is finally out, but good luck playing it. Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo eShop are all having issues right at launch time.

After years of waiting, Hollow Knight: Silksong has finally launched earlier today, September 4. But things aren’t going smoothly. The game went live at exactly 7 AM PT, and almost instantly, every major digital store: Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and the Nintendo eShop, started crashing or throwing errors.

The most noticeable issue is on Steam, where users trying to access the site are being greeted with a full-page error that says:

Something Went Wrong. We were unable to service your request. Please try again later. E502 L3

Xbox and PlayStation users are also reporting slow load times, store pages not opening, and purchases not going through. On the Nintendo side, players say the eShop is either extremely slow or is giving an error code: 2811-6011, which states, “Unable to connect to the server. The network may be busy, or there may be a problem with the server.”

Hollow Knight: Silksong’s release breaks everything

This kind of thing doesn’t happen often, especially not across every platform at once. But in this case? It kind of makes sense. Silksong is one of the most anticipated indie releases of the decade. It’s been topping Steam’s most-wishlisted charts for years.

The moment that the launch countdown hit zero, fans flooded every store they could find, and clearly, the servers couldn’t handle it. The good news? GOG seems to be holding up just fine. If you’re trying to grab Silksong without running into errors, you might want to try buying it through GOG instead.

What’s wild is that this isn’t a $70 triple-A game. Silksong launched at just $19.99, and it’s also available on Xbox and PC Game Pass for free. Over on Reddit and Twitter, players are already memeing the situation, calling it the “Silksongpocalypse.

One frustrated Steam user summed it up with: “I just want to give TC twenty bucks, but no one will let me.” Another joked, “This small indie studio killed the store.”

Others were more blunt about the struggle. “Steam store is dead the moment it hit the hour,” one comment read. On the Nintendo side, a player vented, “eShop is down. The PlayStation Store is not loading properly on mobile. All I want is to download this game!”

If you’re trying to play the game right now, your best bet is to keep refreshing or wait for store servers to recover. No word yet from Valve, Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo about the outages, but you can expect updates to roll in soon, assuming their servers can stay up long enough to post them.
