A new tragic report just came in from a Twitter account called TECHNOuchi revealing that the creator of the famous Konami Code – Kazuhisa Hashimoto has passed away. It’s really upsetting seeing that the video game industry has lost another OG developer. Rest in peace, K. Hashimoto.

コナミコマンド「上上下下左右左右BA」の生みの親であるプログラマーの橋本和久さんが、昨夜、亡くなられたとのこと。ご冥福をお祈りいたします。

Konami Code is a sequence of buttons that players would press to unlock a cheat or an easter egg in Konami titles. Some of the most famous titles with Konami Code are Gradius series, Contra series, Metal Gear Series, Dance Dance Revolution, Castlevania series, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle series. The famous Konami Code is as follows: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A. Our thoughts and prayers go to Kazuhisa Hashimoto’s family and friends.
