A new Metroid Prime 4: Beyond ad has been spotted in the London Tube that says it’s “Out Now.”

After years of waiting and multiple development restarts, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is finally on its way, officially set to launch this year. The game is being developed by Retro Studios after Nintendo rebooted the project in 2019, and fans are more excited than ever.

The first-person adventure will send Samus Aran to a planet called Viewros, where she’ll explore massive environments, fight off strange new enemies, and, this time, harness mysterious psychic powers. Nintendo has already confirmed Beyond will be launching on both the original Nintendo Switch and the newly launched Switch 2.

And now, a new ad has just been spotted that claims that the game is already out.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Ad Claims The Game Is “Out Now”

Earlier today, a Reddit user shared something that left a lot of fans scratching their heads: a large Metroid Prime 4: Beyond advertisement spotted in the London Underground claims the game is “OUT NOW.”

The photo shows the ad running at a Tube station in London. It features Samus front and center, with glowing purple energy in her hand and a group of mysterious figures in the background. The ad clearly states:

OUT NOW Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Includes:

  • Support for mouse controls
  • Support for up to 4K resolution when playing in TV mode*
  • Support for frame rates of up to 120 fps**
  • HDR support***

Naturally, this caught a lot of attention online. Fans immediately started speculating whether this was a stealth launch, or “shadow drop,” for the Switch 2 version of the game. “I’m genuinely confused,” one user wrote on Reddit. “Do they mean the Switch 2 is out? I wish the game was truly out though haha.”

Many believe the ad was supposed to say “Coming Soon” rather than “Out Now.” Another user replied, “Probably meant to cover it with ‘coming soon’, which would then be removed and replaced for the date, and then that would be removed at release.”

It’s not uncommon for early marketing materials to have errors, especially when it comes to international ad rollouts. As of now, Nintendo hasn’t made any public comment or clarification about the poster.

In related news, a new report revealed that while the Nintendo Switch 2 had a record-breaking launch, third-party game sales on the system have fallen below expectations. Despite strong demand for Nintendo’s own titles like Mario Kart World, many publishers say their games have underperformed.
