Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to launch in June 2025, with a price of at least $400 and a strong lineup of first-party and third-party games, industry analysts predict.

Nintendo fans have been waiting years for an official follow-up to the massively successful Switch, and it looks like the wait is almost over. Speculation has been running wild ever since the massive reveal in January 2025, where Nintendo showcased the first official look at this next-generation console.

Reports about pricing, launch titles, and release dates have been surfacing everywhere, and now, industry analysts are weighing in with new details. If these reports are correct, the Switch 2 is shaping up to be Nintendo’s biggest launch ever, with a price tag of at least $400, a release window of June 2025, and a stacked lineup of games available on day one.

Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Price, Release Date, and Games

This latest report comes from Bloomberg, which cites various industry analysts who have been closely tracking Nintendo’s next move. According to the report, the Switch 2 is going to cost more than any previous Nintendo console, with some expecting a $100 price increase over the original Switch.

Analyst Hideki Yasuda from Toyo Securities even suggests the price could reach as high as $499, depending on hardware costs and potential tariffs. While that price might seem steep for a Nintendo console, analysts believe demand won’t be an issue.

“The original Switch’s Nvidia chip is estimated to cost $80 per unit, while the Switch 2’s chip is likely to be in the $130-$150 range,” said Yasuda. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo goes ahead with $499.”

Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein expects Nintendo to have 6 to 8 million units ready at launch, a significant increase from the original Switch’s 2.7 million sales in its first month. If that happens, it could outsell the PlayStation 5’s launch, which hit 4.5 million in its first quarter.

Nintendo Switch 2: Big Games Expected from Day One

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Switch 2 has been its launch lineup. Nintendo is known for dropping major first-party games alongside new consoles, and this time is no different. According to Tokyo-based analyst Serkan Toto, Nintendo’s first year is expected to include a new Mario Kart, a 3D Mario game, Metroid Prime 4, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

That’s not all—third-party support is expected to be much stronger than in previous Nintendo generations. Every major third-party publisher, including Ubisoft, EA, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Sega, and even Microsoft, is reportedly considering bringing their biggest AAA titles to the Switch 2.

That’s a major shift from how third-party games were often limited or downgraded on the original Switch due to hardware constraints.

Nintendo Switch 2: Expected June 2025 Release Date

When exactly will players get their hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 console? Analyst Robin Zhu predicts a June 2025 release window for the Switch 2. If true, that means Nintendo is skipping the holiday season launch that many expected. Instead, it might be trying to avoid hardware shortages and scalping issues, which were a major problem during the PS5 and Xbox Series X launch.

Of course, this isn’t official just yet. Nintendo is expected to make a full announcement on April 2, 2025, where it will confirm the final price, release date, and first wave of games.

It’s not just Nintendo’s own games that will be pushing the Switch 2 forward. Third-party publishers seem to be taking the console much more seriously this time around. According to Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick, Nintendo is no longer just a platform for younger players.
