Earlier today, Sony released its yearly update on the cumulative digital sales for PlayStation 4 video games. And it seems the number has drastically increased as compared to last year’s report.
According to the last year’s report, the total number of digital video games was 924 million for PlayStation 4. Now, let’s take a look at the new updated press release.
- Sell-Through as of December 31, 2018: 924 million
- Sell-Through as of December 31, 2019: 1,181 million
According to the SIE press release post for PlayStation 4 sales numbers, these are “figures of PS4 software titles sold through retailers and PlayStation™Store.” Other than that, there have been many rumors about PlayStation 5 announcement being in mid-February in Sony Hall.
Recently, Sony filed the trademark for PlayStation 5 in Europe at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IGE IPI). Though, there’s nothing officially confirmed as of now. But if the leaks are true, we’ll be getting an official statement on this very soon.
