Rumors suggest a major PlayStation State of Play will happen on September 19-20, featuring first-party content, with the highly anticipated PS5 Pro coming next week.
It looks like Sony is gearing up for a major reveal later this month. According to a reliable insider, we might be getting a major State of Play later this month.
This information comes from an insider, Lunatic Ignus, who accurately predicted the date of May’s State of Play. Ignus shared an update in their Discord server, corroborating the claims made by Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb that a State of Play event will take place by the end of September 2024.
PS5 Pro Announcement Coming Next Week?
In the statement, Ignus said that Sony will hold a “pretty big” State of Play on September 19 or September 20, 2024, featuring first-party content, along with a “world premiere” announcement. In addition, there’s also going to be a “big announcement” from Sony next week, which is likely to be the PS5 Pro reveal.
Here’s the full statement by Ignus, which they later corrected:
“Sony will hold a pretty big State of Play [on September 19-20]. The big announcement that all of you are eagerly waiting [for] will take place on Tuesday/Wednesday [next week].
“For those asking how big, it will have first-party content including a ‘World Premiere’ that I am waiting for. Not 100% about the ‘World Premiere’ being at this event or TGA, take it with a grain of salt.”
While they aren’t 100% sure about what the big reveal would be, it lines up with previous reports from leaker billbil-kun, who suggested that Sony is preparing to unveil the PlayStation 5 Pro very soon, with an announcement “in the first half of September 2024.”
As with any rumor, it’s worth taking this with a pinch of salt. It’s clear something big is on the horizon, and with several insiders backing the claims, PlayStation fans have plenty to be excited about.
If the PS5 Pro is indeed revealed, it would mark a huge moment for Sony, as the console has been one of the most anticipated upgrades for the PlayStation lineup. What are your thoughts on this? Which games are you hoping to see in the upcoming State of Play? Let us know in the comments below!
