A well-known Resident Evil insider claims Resident Evil Requiem will close out Umbrella’s story and serve as Leon’s send-off.

A new post from well-known Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem claims that Resident Evil 9: Requiem will bring Umbrella’s story to a close once and for all. The insider shared a short thread on X (formerly Twitter) earlier today, saying the upcoming sequel is meant to be a “game of endings and beginnings.”

Dusk Golem says he’s standing by what he’s been saying for months, that Requiem isn’t just about bringing back Leon S. Kennedy. According to him, it’s about giving Leon a proper send-off while closing the book on Umbrella’s role in the series timeline once and for all.

“Leon’s going to get revealed eventually & people are going to get excited, good for them,” he said in a new thread posted today. “And I know people are going to write me off, like I guessed it… But they’re to neglect I’ve been saying for a while now that RE9 is a game of endings & beginnings, that this was going to be Leon’s send-off (in the timeline as a main character, I’m sure he’ll be in future stuff backwards in the timeline).

“That this was going to be the end of Umbrella’s legacy for good, timeline-wise, & all of this I don’t think anyone was claiming or speaking about as far as I know.”

None of this has been confirmed by Capcom, so take everything here with a grain of salt. Still, it lines up with what Dusk Golem’s been hinting at since August, that Requiem will act as a closing chapter for both Leon, wrapping up long-running storylines and setting the stage for a new direction in future Resident Evil games.

Previous leaks he shared mentioned an open-level Raccoon City design, vehicle travel, and The Last of Us–style combat sections for Leon. Officially, Capcom has confirmed Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, with first- and third-person perspectives and a return to Raccoon City. But beyond that, Leon’s role remains under wraps.
