Few games have captured the imagination of fans like Bloodborne. Released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, this gothic action RPG from FromSoftware remains a cult favorite. However, its performance limitations on modern hardware—locked at 1080p and 30 FPS—have made fans call for a remaster or remake.
And today, excitement surged when a Bloodborne server maintenance update was announced for December 3, 2024, coinciding with the rumored PlayStation event in December. This led to many theorizing that this might be for the long-awaited reveal of a remaster or remake.
Insider Shuts Down Bloodborne Remaster or Remake Speculation
The excitement, however, was short-lived. Hours after the rumors gained traction, with a post on X (Twitter) reaching nearly a million views in six hours, a reliable industry insider dismissed the speculation.
Jeff Grubb, a well-known journalist from Giant Bomb, quote-posted the original post on X, bluntly stating, “I promise you this is nothing.”

It remains unclear whether a PlayStation event is planned for early December. Meanwhile, in related news, FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa Corporation, is engaged in acquisition talks with Sony PlayStation.
According to a recent report by Bloomberg, the two companies have previously discussed a potential acquisition. However, those discussions have yet to reach an agreement, as the parties reportedly struggled to “resolve differences over the degree of commitment.”
While the outcome remains unclear, the talks underscore Sony’s ongoing interest in strengthening its portfolio of game developers, particularly following the massive success of FromSoftware’s recent projects like Elden Ring.
