An alleged Silent Hill f review leak rates the game 9.5/10, calling it “genuinely spectacular” and revealing New Game+ continues the story with multiple endings.
Silent Hill f is almost here, and fans of the legendary horror series don’t have to wait much longer. The game officially launches on September 25, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. It’s being developed by NeoBards Entertainment and published by Konami, with story work by Higurashi creator Ryukishi07 and music by long-time Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka.
Set in 1960s rural Japan, the game takes place in the town of Ebisugaoka. You play as a high school student named Shimizu Hinako. Konami’s been careful not to spoil too much, but it has made it clear that Silent Hill f will focus heavily on story, psychological horror, and player discovery.
Now, with just days to go before launch, an early leaked review has surfaced, and based on what was revealed, it looks like Silent Hill fans may have a lot to look forward to.
Silent Hill f Review Leak: 9.5/10 and “Genuinely Spectacular”
The leak comes from a now-deleted post on the r/silenthill subreddit, where a user identifying themselves as DualShockers writer Elena Chapella shared impressions after finishing the game early. They claimed to have already finished the game and are currently playing through New Game+. According to the post, they rated the game a 9.5 out of 10, calling it “genuinely spectacular.”
“As a preface: I write for DualShockers, and I’m doing a review for Silent Hill f,” they said. “Because of it, I was able to get the game early, and I beat it over the weekend. I’m rating it a 9.5/10; it’s genuinely spectacular.”
The author appears to still be actively contributing to the outlet, which adds weight to the claim, though, as always with leaks, nothing is guaranteed until the official review goes live. The reviewer didn’t share story spoilers but did offer detailed impressions about gameplay mechanics, difficulty, structure, and tone, all of which provide a solid sneak peek at what to expect on day one.
According to the leaked details, Silent Hill f’s combat “teeters on souls-like, but not completely.” The Reddit user explained that players won’t be able to simply run in and fight everything. “It’s challenging, you have to pick and choose your battles in typical SH fashion,” they said.
They also issued a strong warning about the game’s content, saying, “Pay attention to the content warnings.” While they didn’t go into specifics, that’s not surprising, considering how intense the official ESRB description is for Silent Hill f. The game is rated M for Mature 17+, with warnings for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Partial Nudity, with characters “getting impaled in the neck and/or getting their faces ripped apart.”
One of the more exciting details is that New Game+ continues the story, rather than just letting you replay with stronger gear. “There are multiple endings,” they added, though they mentioned they weren’t allowed to say more. This means players will likely need to go through the game more than once to fully understand everything.
The storytelling approach also sounds very lore-driven. “Read everything,” the reviewer emphasized, explaining that the game’s story is often found in “your journal or from documents you find. The journal also updates frequently,” they said.
Finally, the reviewer described Silent Hill f as something completely new for the franchise, while still holding on to what makes Silent Hill feel like Silent Hill. “It’s completely unique to any other SH game you’ve ever played, but it still feels like a SH game.” They explained that while it doesn’t aim to be like the classics, it still manages to capture “that fear and anxiety” the series is known for.
Shortly after posting, the Reddit user replied (now deleted) to a comment saying that they are expected to submit their review on Monday, September 22. That could mean the review embargo lifts that same day, just a few days ahead of the full release on the 25th.
Of course, it’s important to treat all of this as unofficial until reviews start landing from verified outlets. While the poster appears to be active on DualShockers at the time of writing, we still recommend taking it all with a grain of salt.
