The Last of Us HBO TV show is probably one of the most anticipated video game adaptations this year. The show stars The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal as Joel, and Game of Thrones’ Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

Recently, in an interview, Bella Ramsey told USA Today, that she was asked by the producers to actually not play the game before joining the show. And by Ramsay’s reply, it seems like she has yet to play the game.

“I was actually encouraged not to. After my first audition, they asked me, “Have you played it?” And I said “nope,” and they said, “Keep it that way. (Laughs.)”

“I did watch some of the gameplay on YouTube just to get a sense of it. But I’m so excited for it to come out – it was such a big part of my life. I shot for a whole year, which is quite a long time when you’ve only lived for 19 years.”

“Pedro wrote a little card to me at the end, saying, “How interesting that something so huge and life-changing should happen so early in your life and so late in mine.” I thought it was a really sweet observation and I just had the best time.”

HBO released a brand-new teaser for the TV show last month, which has accumulated over 7 million views on YouTube alone, with the majority praising the adaptation.

The teaser has confirmed that the show will air on HBO Max sometime in 2023, next year. However, an exact release date for the show is not revealed at the moment.
