Titanfall and Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has reportedly canceled an unannounced multiplayer FPS after a year in development.

Respawn Entertainment has built a strong name for itself with Titanfall, Apex Legends, and Star Wars Jedi games, but one thing fans have been asking for non-stop is Titanfall 3. Instead of getting that, it looks like another mysterious project at the studio has been quietly shut down.

For the past year, Respawn had been working on an unannounced multiplayer FPS, but now, it appears the project has been scrapped before ever being revealed to the public, according to a now-former employee.

Respawn Entertainment Unannounced FPS Game Reportedly Canceled?

This information comes from Emilee Evans, a former Executive Assistant/Production Coordinator at Respawn, who shared the news on LinkedIn. Evans revealed that she had been working on the project for the past year, only to see it get shut down.

While the project was never officially announced, Respawn had been hiring for an “Incubation Team” for the past few years, specifically looking for developers with experience in multiplayer shooters. Many believed this was tied to a brand-new IP.

In her LinkedIn post, Evans wrote:

“The unannounced incubation project I was a part of for the past year was canceled this week, so I am joining the group of extremely talented and kind people in the games industry searching for a new role.”

This suggests that the developers who were working on this project have either been let go or moved to other teams within Respawn.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Respawn has pulled the plug on a project before it even got a chance to see the light of day. Earlier this year, a first-person shooter set in the Star Wars universe was also canceled as part of EA’s company-wide restructuring.

At this point, fans waiting for Titanfall 3 are probably feeling frustrated. Respawn continues to focus on Apex Legends, but the player base has been shrinking over the past year, leading to questions about the studio’s long-term plans.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Respawn should take another shot at Titanfall instead of scrapping new projects? Let us know what you think in the comments!
