Battlefield 2042 is officially out in the wild and while the game features incredible graphics and visuals, it’s clear that Battlefield 2042 lacks a lot of basic FPS features, like voice chat.

Luckily, DICE has released an update confirming that the teams are working on adding Voice Chat, end-of-match Scoreboards, and server browsers in the game.

Revealed in a content roadmap blog post, DICE says that it hears the feedback surrounding voice chat support, and scoreboards loud and clear. “We also want to give you the assurance that we’re carefully evaluating your desire to see legacy features return,” the blog states.

“End-of-match Scoreboard, Server Browser, and features like Voice Chat are big topics for us to cover all at once, and we have plenty we want to say around them.”

“We’ll come back to you when we have things that we can show to you, including details about our long-term vision for certain features and functions.”

DICE didn’t give a time frame for when these changes will be released in the game. One thing is clear these features are on the roadmap for Battlefield 2042.

While it’s great to have an update on these requested features, it’s really unfortunate that these didn’t already ship in the final build of the game as voice chat is mostly essential for first-person shooter games like Battlefield and Call of Duty.

Furthermore, it seems like DICE has no plans on adding a scoreboard that shows players standing during the match for every player, which is kind of a bummer.

A new sales report from GamesIndustry.biz suggests that Battlefield 2042’s launch sale numbers are 59% down compared to the launch sale figures of Battlefield 5. (the last installment in the Battlefield franchise)
