Bungie removes the Marathon ViDoc featuring former director Chris Barrett following allegations of inappropriate behaviour.
It looks like Bungie has taken down the behind-the-scenes ViDoc for its highly anticipated extraction shooter, Marathon. This ViDoc was originally released to the public last year.
This comes following a bombshell report from Bloomberg yesterday, which revealed that Christopher Barrett, a veteran Bungie executive and former game director for Marathon, was fired in March 2024 over allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards female employees, which led to an internal investigation against him at the studio.
According to the report, Barrett engaged in conduct that included sending flirtatious messages to female employees, participating in games like truth-or-dare, and hinting that his power within the studio could help advance their careers.
Bungie Privates Behind-the-Scenes Marathon ViDoc
In light of this, it seems Bungie is taking swift action to distance itself from Barrett’s controversial conduct. The ViDoc in question, which featured Barrett prominently discussing the development of Marathon alongside other team members, has been set to private on Marathon’s official YouTube channel. The video was titled, “What is Marathon? | Somewhere In The Heavens – ViDoc”.
In addition, it appears that Bungie has also updated the official Marathon website, removing the ViDoc section from the front page. At the time of writing, the ViDoc has not been re-uploaded or reinstated.

Earlier this year, a report from IGN revealed that there was a leadership change for Marathon, where former game director Chris Barrett was replaced. Joseph Ziegler, formerly the game director of Valorant, stepped in to take the helm of Marathon last year.
