Warner Bros. is reportedly planning a fourth Dune movie and a second show after Dune: Messiah and Dune: Prophecy.

The world of Dune has been thriving lately, and fans can’t get enough of it. With Denis Villeneuve’s masterful adaptation of Frank Herbert’s iconic sci-fi saga, the first Dune film in 2021 set the stage for an epic journey. Dune: Part Two, which was released earlier this year, delivered even more breathtaking visuals and storytelling.

Meanwhile, Dune: Prophecy, the HBO prequel series exploring the origins of the Bene Gesserit, has captivated audiences and just wrapped up its first season. Now, a new wave of rumors has fans speculating about the franchise’s future.

Warner Bros. Planning Dune 4?

According to a new report from Hollywood insider Daniel RPK, also known as Daniel Richtman, it seems Warner Bros. and Legendary are thinking far ahead. Shared via Richtman’s Patreon, the post claims there are already plans for another Dune TV series in addition to Prophecy and even a fourth movie after Dune: Messiah.

If true, this would solidify Dune as one of the most ambitious sci-fi franchises in recent memory. In a post shared today, Richtman stated, “I hear that Legendary/WB already have plans for more Dune. Including a second show and a 4th film.” While specific details are scarce, the implications are massive for Dune fans.

The idea of a fourth Dune movie raises intriguing questions. If it comes to fruition, will Denis Villeneuve return to direct, or will the reins be handed to someone else? Villeneuve has previously indicated that his involvement might conclude with Dune: Messiah, which adapts the second book in Herbert’s series.

Additionally, there’s no word yet on what this potential fourth film would cover. Could it explore the events of Children of Dune or something entirely new? As for the second TV show, fans can only speculate about its focus.

Could it delve deeper into the political intrigues of the Landsraad, or perhaps explore the Fremen’s perspective more intimately? It’s all speculation for now, and as with any insider report, it’s wise to take this information with a grain of salt until official announcements are made.

In the meantime, there’s plenty to look forward to in the Dune universe. Dune: Messiah, slated for a December 18, 2026 release, will reportedly bring Paul Atreides’ story to its conclusion. Villeneuve has teased that this installment will explore themes of power and consequence, following Paul’s rise as the Emperor.
