Nintendo has officially revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 after tons and tons of speculation. Here’s the first official look at the console.
After months of speculation and countless rumors, Nintendo has officially revealed the Nintendo Switch 2, putting an end to the guessing game.
The reveal comes after weeks of leaks hinting at a potential announcement. Fans have been waiting for a follow-up to the iconic Nintendo Switch, and now it’s finally here.
Nintendo Switch Officially Revealed
The big news broke early this morning on January 16, 2025, at around 5 AM PT. Nintendo dropped the announcement with a first-look trailer, showcasing what the new console brings to the table, with the official release slated for 2025.
From the teaser, we get a glimpse of the sleek redesign and some exciting gameplay footage. Watch the full trailer below:
At the end of the trailer, a text was shown, which reads:
“Play Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games as well as Nintendo Switch games. Nintendo Switch 2 plays both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2. Details will be shared on the Nintendo website at a later date.”
Nintendo also officially announced a new Direct for Switch 2 next month, on April 2, 2025. The trailer also teased a brand-new Mario Kart game, which was previously rumored.
