If you’ve been playing Destiny 2 for a while, you know that the game features several seasonal events every year. There’s The Dawning in the winter, and Guardian Games shows up in the spring with class-based competition. Then there’s Festival of the Lost for Halloween. And of course, we also have Solstice, the summer event.
Well, it’s that time again. Solstice 2025 is right around the corner, and similar to past events, there are new armor, weapons, and cosmetics to unlock. In this article, we’ll walk through everything you need to know about Solstice 2025 in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 Solstice 2025 Start and End Dates
Destiny 2’s Solstice 2025 is set to begin on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and will run until Tuesday, August 19, 2025. That gives us two full weeks to collect gear, upgrade armor, and get all the new cosmetics in the game.

Destiny 2 Solstice 2025: What’s New This Year?
Bungie says the goal of this event is to “use the Solstice Forge to create a full set of armor, and then to make it glow.”
New Solar Modifiers in Portal Activities
Instead of bringing back Bonfire Bash, Bungie is loading up the Portal activities with rotating Solar-themed modifiers. “These modifiers are inspired by Solar energy, very fitting for the Solstice theming, and you might recognize some of their effects if you have paid attention to the Artifact in the past,” said the developer.
Here are four of them that were revealed:
- Hot Potato: Carriable Solar Flares occasionally drop from defeated combatants. Passing it between players increases the amount of damage it will do.
- Fired Up: Dealing damage and final blows from Solar sources raises a heat meter Once full, your weapons will cause Solar explosions.
- Class Healing: Heal yourself when using your class ability.
- Igniter: Precision hits against scorched combatants cause ignitions.
These modifiers will rotate daily for matchmaking, but you can pick whichever ones you like with custom difficulty, except Hot Potato, which always stays on in Portal matchmaking.
Solstice Scorched Crucible Mode
New this year is a Solstice Scorched Crucible Playlist. “You can imagine what weapon is the main character here: the Scorch Cannon. Both teams will be able to use them in Clash, Control, and Rift game modes, so revel in the chaos and don’t forget you can charge the Cannon after shooting it for some extra area damage.”
New Destiny 2 Solstice Weapons for 2025
This year’s Solstice will feature two new weapons that come with a slick, ocean-inspired holofoil design. One is a Festival Flight Area Denial Strand Grenade Launcher, and the other is the Yeartide Apex Solar Lightweight Submachine Gun. Both of these feature the “Holofoil” versions as well.

Leaked Destiny 2 Solstice 2025 Armor Sets
As usual, Solstice 2025 will bring new themed sets for each class, and this year, Bungie is going all in on the beach vacation look. These were datamined shortly after the Edge of Fate update.
- Titan: Blue swim trunks, inflatable shoulder pads.
- Warlock: Robes with tropical flower prints.
- Hunter: Sleek wetsuit with wave decals.

Thanks to further datamining, we’ve also seen some of the other cosmetics tied to the event—some of which will likely be sold through Eververse.
