Xbox Live is currently down, with thousands reporting issues worldwide. Microsoft services like Teams, Outlook, and Azure are also affected.

If you’re having trouble signing in to Xbox Live or playing your favorite games today, you’re definitely not alone. As of now, Xbox Live appears to be down, with thousands of players reporting major issues across Xbox services, and outage reports skyrocketing on Downdetector in just the past hour.

According to the reports, the majority of the Xbox users are running into server connection problems, with some experiencing login issues too. The outage seems to have started around 11:55 AM PT today, and reports continue to climb rapidly, currently sitting at over 4,000 in total.

What makes this situation even bigger is that it’s not just Xbox being hit. Most major Microsoft services are showing the same kind of spike in problems, including Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, the Microsoft Store, Azure, and even Minecraft. With all these platforms going down at once, it’s very possible that the issue is linked to a larger Microsoft network or infrastructure problem.

Xbox Live and Other Microsoft Services Experiencing Connectivity Issues

Microsoft hasn’t made an official statement yet, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on their Xbox Status and Microsoft 365 service pages for any updates. Historically, issues like these tend to get resolved within a few hours once the company identifies the source of the outage, but at the moment, there’s no confirmed fix or timeline.

Update, October 9, 12:30 PM PT

It looks like the Xbox servers are slowly coming back online. Many users are reporting that they’re able to sign back in and access online features again.

Interestingly, this comes just a few days after Steam suffered a large outage earlier in the week, one that some users suspected was related to a wider DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) attack affecting multiple online platforms. While it’s unclear if tonight’s Xbox outage is connected, the timing has definitely raised some eyebrows among players.

For now, all you can really do is wait it out. Restarting your console or router likely won’t fix anything while the services themselves are down. We’ll update this story as soon as the servers stabilize or if Microsoft releases an official statement on what’s going on.
