Cross-Play In The Works For Rainbow Six Siege

The gaming world is moving towards Cross-play more and more. This is a very delicate situation for most of the parties. Because Sony does not like cross-play that much. It affects their exclusive titles. Players do not need to choose a specific console in order to play with cross-play. Of course, there are some multiplayer games with cross-play these days such as Fortnite and Sony even resisted there and later allowed the crossplay. Rainbow Six Siege is also developing a cross-play feature according to recent news. This is highly interesting because Rainbow Six Siege is a 5-year-old game.

The game director of Rainbow Six Siege talked to Windows Central and stated ” Again, this is more a discussion between Microsoft and Sony. We would love to be fully cross-play — have Xbox players matchmaking against the PlayStation players. We are ready to support that. And hopefully, this will happen because as I said, it’s a general move in the industry, and there is nothing that can prevent that. It’s just a matter of time before it happens” He continued ” I don’t think there will ever be console cross-play with PC. The only way we could do that kind of stuff is by letting you do that if you want to. By default, you’re always with the console. But if you want to match with these players, to have better matchmaking, or whatever, and get your ass kicked by a keyboard and mouse, up to you

Of course, this news is interesting. When we take a look at the current games that have crossplay the list is not very long. But it is getting longer and the recent Call of Duty Modern Warfare became very successful with it. Rainbow Six Siege adding cross-play between consoles is an improvement. Also, another piece of news is that apparently, Ubisoft is working towards a cross-platform progression. Hopefully, this will solve another problem with players not able to get their skins, etc, from their previous accounts. Also, Rainbow Six Quarantine is coming soon.
