Star Wars Battlefront 3 may already be in development at EA’s DICE and Respawn instead of the Destiny 2 developer Bungie, a studio CEO claims.
Star Wars Battlefront 3 has been getting a lot of attention lately, with a recent report claiming that Lucasfilm is looking for a developer to bring the series back. As we reported yesterday, both EA’s DICE and Bungie were named as possible studios for the project, although neither had reportedly committed to it.
The original rumor came from Electronic Gaming Monthly’s revived Quartermann column in issue #265, which was sent digitally to backers on October 9. Industry journalist Jeff Grubb discussed the claims during Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Mornings yesterday.

According to the magazine, Lucasfilm has been actively searching for a development partner, with Bungie potentially taking over if DICE doesn’t get the job.
Now, another game developer has weighed in, and his claim suggests things might already be further along.
Star Wars Battlefront 3 May Already Be in Development at DICE and Respawn, According to Studio CEO
Yesterday, Joe Brammer, CEO of Bulkhead, the studio behind Wardogs, responded to an X post discussing the rumors surrounding DICE and Bungie. His comment introduced another studio into the conversation, Respawn Entertainment, and suggested that work on Battlefront 3 might already be happening.
Brammer wrote: “DICE and from what I’ve heard Respawn are working on Battlefront 3. Not sure what that means for Battlefield.”
That’s a pretty interesting claim, especially coming from someone who runs a game development studio. The earlier EGM report suggested Lucasfilm was still looking for someone to take on the project. Brammer, however, is talking about DICE and potentially Respawn already working on it.

Respawn is another EA-owned studio, known for Apex Legends, Titanfall, and the Star Wars Jedi games. DICE, of course, developed EA’s Star Wars Battlefront in 2015 and Battlefront II in 2017, so a return wouldn’t be much of a surprise.
Brammer later followed up with another post, saying he’d like Battlefield and Battlefront to exist in the same cycle. In a separate post reacting to the Bungie rumors, he also wondered how the Destiny developer might change Battlefront’s design, which suggests his earlier comment shouldn’t be taken as proof that Bungie is completely out of the picture.

DICE is still the more obvious choice, given its history with the series. Bringing Respawn into the mix would be interesting too, especially considering its experience with Star Wars and shooters.
For now, EA, Lucasfilm, DICE, and Respawn haven’t officially announced Star Wars Battlefront 3 or confirmed that development has started. There’s also no release window or confirmed platform information.
Again, nothing here is officially confirmed. So, we suggest taking everything with a grain of salt.

Would you rather see DICE and Respawn working together on Battlefront 3, or would you prefer Bungie getting a shot at the series? Let us know in the comments.
