Destiny was originally released back in 2014 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game takes place in the post-apocalyptic future where different aliens’ races roam freely on the surface of Earth. There are a total of five alien races known as of now – Hive, Cabal, Vex, Fallen, and Veil (Darkness). We have gotten four out of five of these enemies in Destiny and Destiny 2. After seeing many AAA titles getting their movie and TV show adaptations like Assassin’s Creed (which was just bad), The Witcher on Netflix, and recently, Borderlands movie, I think it’s officially time for us to have a Destiny TV show adaptation.
Destiny portrays outer space like no other game for me and it really has a special place in my heart. Speaking of the Movie/TV show adaptation, Bungie did comment on the possibility of a Destiny 2 Movie last year. “Anything is possible. One of the advantages of Bungie fully owning the Destiny IP is that we have the freedom to make those choices whenever we think the time is right. That’s all I can say about it,” said Robbie Stevens, creative lead at Bungie.
Would you like to have a Destiny TV Show on Netflix?
The reason why I said TV show and not a 2-hour movie is because of the lore of Destiny itself. If it was adapted as a movie, there would be no way the movie could cover the whole lore. As for the TV show, we could easily fit and expand on the storyline and lore in there.
If done right, Destiny could be one of the top video game adaptations ever. Just imagine the full-fledged back-story of Oryx, Savathun, and Xivu Arath. Not to mention, the Darkness reveal would be incredible.
But if you ask me, I think we won’t get the Destiny movie or TV Show adaptation until the whole story is completed because there are lots and lots of mysteries that are yet to be uncovered in the video game series. A prime example of this is Darkness. So, Bungie won’t just spoil this in the show ahead of its reveal in the game.
But, there is another possibility that they start right from the beginning of Destiny (The Fundament). And by the time they get to the Darkness, it would be revealed in the game.
What do you think about this? I would love to hear your thoughts! If you want to know the complete story of Destiny right from the Fundament up until Shadowkeep, then make sure to watch Byf‘s three-hour-long video:
