Ronald D. Moore, the God of War TV series’ showrunner, has revealed some new details about the show.
Amazon’s God of War TV series has been a hot topic ever since it was first announced. With such a massive fanbase behind the PlayStation franchise, expectations are sky-high. The show promises to bring Kratos and his story to life in a way that does justice to the games, and it’s already seen some big shake-ups behind the scenes.
Originally, the series was moving forward with Rafe Judkins, Hawk Ostby, and Mark Fergus as key creative figures, but last year, they exited the project, with Ronald D. Moore appointed as the new showrunner. Moore, best known for Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, and For All Mankind, has now shared an exciting update that confirms Amazon’s commitment to the project.
New Amazon’s God of War TV Series Details
During an appearance on The Sackhoff Show podcast, Moore casually confirmed something that hadn’t been officially announced yet: Amazon has ordered two full seasons of God of War.
While discussing his current projects, Moore mentioned that the show is actively in development and that Amazon has already committed to two seasons. This is a huge sign that the company sees serious potential in the adaptation.
“Right now I’m working on an adaptation of—there’s a video game called God of War,” Moore said. “It’s a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered, you know, two seasons of, and they have asked me to come in. So I’m literally in the writer’s room and, you know, working on that. That’s my new thing.”
Beyond this big reveal, Moore also talked about his lack of experience with video games, admitting that he’s struggled to get the hang of God of War’s modern controls. He compared it to his love for old-school arcade games, joking that he’d be more comfortable playing Asteroids or Defender than trying to navigate Kratos’ brutal combat.
Right now, Amazon has yet to announce an official release date for the show, but with two seasons already greenlit, production could be moving faster than expected. As for casting, no actors have been confirmed yet, though fans have been debating potential choices for Kratos.
Christopher Judge, the voice of Kratos in the latest games, is a fan favorite, but others are hoping for a big-name Hollywood star to take on the role.
