Bungie says Destiny 2’s full State of the Game and multi-year roadmap won’t arrive until 2026, following months of delays and community frustration.
Bungie has finally addressed the long-running silence around Destiny 2’s future, confirming that the long-awaited State of the Game and multi-year roadmap will now arrive sometime in 2026. This is something players have been asking about since early September, when Bungie first said an updated roadmap was coming “in the next few weeks.”
That obviously didn’t happen, and the delay became a major talking point inside the community. The studio acknowledged those frustrations a few days ago, with Destiny’s comms lead apologizing for the missed timelines and taking responsibility for promising updates too early.

Fast forward to today, and Bungie has released the full Renegades content calendar to set expectations for the next few months. Alongside that, the studio quietly confirmed that the bigger, long-term vision for Destiny still needs more time before it’s ready to share.
Destiny 2’s Long-Term Plans Still in the Works
This new information comes directly from Bungie’s official Renegades content calendar blog post, which outlines the short-term plans for update 9.5.0 and beyond. In the same post, the studio included a small but important update about the larger roadmap fans have been waiting on.
Bungie says it’s still working through long-term plans for the future of Destiny 2, and that the team needs extra time before it can show a complete picture. The developer confirmed that the full Destiny 2 State of the Game and “multi-year roadmap” will arrive next year. (2026)
“As we continue to act on your feedback, we’re taking additional time to craft our long-term strategy for the future of Destiny before we share a full State of the Game and multi-year roadmap next year,” Bungie said.
For now, there’s no confirmed month or date for when this bigger update will land, only that it’s scheduled for 2026.

While players wait, the newly released Renegades calendar gives a clearer look at what’s coming soon. Update 9.5.0 launches on December 2 with the full Renegades campaign, the new Lawless Frontier activity, the Equilibrium dungeon, Blasters, the Praxic Blade Exotic, and the 300 Power catch-up.
