Similar to the weapon itself, you can unlock the exotic catalyst for Choir of One in the new Encore exotic mission. Below, you can find the step-by-step guide on how to unlock the exotic catalyst for this weapon.

Step 1: Complete Encore Exotic Mission

The first step is to complete the Encore Exotic mission with normal difficulty. Visit Failsafe to get the new quest for this mission.

Keep in mind that you need to complete all previous story quests for Act 1 and Act 2 in order to unlock the Choir of One exotic and catalysts.

Note

In order to get the secret chests, you need to complete the SpecimenID: NES007 questline that you can get from your first Encore completion, as well as the weekly story questline.

Step 2: Get the Quest From Banshee-44

Now that you’ve completed the mission once, visit Banshee-44 at the Tower and get the Choir of One exotic catalyst quest. This quest is called “//CHOIR: ETERNAL”. Below is the list of objectives for this questline:

  • “Open the first Secret Chest in Exotic mission ‘Encore and complete the Exotic mission ‘Encore’ on Expert difficulty to unlock the first catalyst for Choir of One.”

It is recommended to complete all the steps in one session on Expert difficulty. However, it is also possible to unlock the chest first and then attempt the mission on Expert difficulty separately.

Step 3: Encore Exotic Mission on Expert Difficulty

Relaunch the Encore mission and make your way toward the research lab/room at the end of the mission, right before the final boss encounter. This room is where you’ll hear the dialogue between Maya Sundaresh, Chioma Esi, Ikora Rey, and Osiris.

At the end of the room, you’ll see a Vex conflux spawn, interact with it and the portal in front of it will activate. Enter the portal and you’ll see another opened portal in the next room. Go through the portal, and you’ll find yourself in a circular room with a couple of blue buffs.

Choir of One: Subsistence Refit Puzzle

Here’s how the puzzle works: The blue buffs in the room can open portals when placed next to them. Each portal emits a white laser that connects to a Vex diamond, which turns white, indicating where you will be teleported if you enter the portal.

Above the circular room, there is another chamber divided into segments, each containing a purple-ish Vex node. Your goal is to destroy all these nodes. Keep in mind that there’s a timer in place. So, you need to be quick, or else the purple nodes will respawn.

To progress, move the blue buffs to the portals that emit lasers directly beneath the vulnerable nodes. Teleport up, destroy the nodes, and continue this process until all the nodes are eliminated. Once every node is destroyed, the chest containing the Subsistence catalyst for Choir of One will appear.

Choir of One: Destabilizing Rounds Refit Puzzle

To unlock the Destabilizing Rounds Refit for Choir of One, you need to first get the new quest from Banshee-44, called “//CHOIR: UPHEAVAL”. The good news is that this is retroactive, so you don’t have to redo the mission on Expert difficulty if you’ve already completed one.

Simply relaunch the Encore mission, and complete it as you normally would until you reach the lab right before the final boss encounter. Activate the Vex conflux and enter the portal. In this main hub, you’ll notice that there’s a second Vex portal now activated to your left. Enter this portal, and it’ll lead you to the main puzzle.

We have a complete guide on how to complete this puzzle here. Completing the puzzle and opening the chest will unlock the second Destabilizing Rounds Refit for Choir of One.
