Destiny 2 Episode Revenant will feature a mysterious fan-favorite activity returning from the original game, but Bungie has confirmed it won’t be the Sparrow Racing League.
Yesterday, Bungie hosted a developer livestream to provide a glimpse of Destiny 2’s upcoming Episode Revenant. The livestream wasn’t just about Revenant, Bungie also revealed a lot of major details about Codename: Frontiers.
Episode Revenant, set to launch next week on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, will introduce new content and features across three acts, including a mysterious fan-favorite activity set to return. But what could it be?
During the livestream, Bungie confirmed that this mystery activity will arrive in Act 2 of Revenant; “inspired by a fan-favorite activity from Destiny’s past. We’re going to bring back the activity.” However, the developer was careful not to give away too much.
Destiny 2 Revenant Returning Activity?
Naturally, this led to wild speculation across the community, and the hopes of many longtime fans quickly focused on one thing—Sparrow Racing League.
Unfortunately, the global community lead at Bungie, Dylan Gafner (dmg04) quickly squashed those dreams, humorously shutting down the SRL theory on social media. “SRL ain’t coming back in Revenant,” Gafner said in a post on X (Twitter).
“Feel free to keep speculating on which fan-favorite activity will be making a return, though. Please feel free to keep yelling at me about how much you want it back. Happy to pass the feedback along.”
With SRL off the table, speculation turned to other possibilities. Some fans think Prison of Elders, the endgame activity from House of Wolves in Destiny 1, could be making a comeback.
Personally, I think Prison of Elders would make sense, considering the activity was released in a Fallen-themed expansion (House of Wolves), and Revenant is also a very Scorn/Fallen-themed episode.
Another strong possibility is the return of Combined Arms, a large-scale PvP mode from Destiny 1. Earlier this year, there was a rumor circulating that Bungie might be working on a similar vehicle-based PvP activity with tanks, interceptors, and pikes.
Apart from that, we also have a preview of the new Artifact coming in Destiny 2 Episode Revenant, which is heavily focused on Stasis. If you wish to learn more about it, be sure to check out our dedicated article here.
