Destiny 2 players are calling out a possible bug in the Sundered Doctrine dungeon as the new Exotic, Finality’s Auger, seemingly isn’t dropping for anyone outside of Contest Mode completions.
Destiny 2’s newest dungeon, Sundered Doctrine, launched last week, bringing players back into Rhulk’s Pyramid ship in Savathûn’s Throne World. Similar to the last dungeon, there was an official dungeon race with the Contest mode active for the first 48 hours.
The loot pool for the Sundered Doctrine dungeon features several new Legendary weapons like Unloved (Strand Hand Cannon) and Unvoiced (Void Shotgun), along with the Flain Armor Set. But the real prize is the new Exotic Linear Fusion Rifle, Finality’s Auger.
This Solar weapon comes with a turret-deploying perk, making it one of the most unique Exotics in the game. Sounds great, right? Well, there’s just one problem… no one seems to be getting it.
Are Finality’s Auger Drop Rates Bugged in Destiny 2’s Sundered Doctrine Dungeon?
Update, February 13, 1:50 PM PT: Bungie has confirmed that the drop rates for Finality’s Auger are currently bugged and the weapon “isn’t currently dropping as expected.”
“After an investigation, we have discovered that Finality’s Auger, the exotic found in the Sundered Doctrine dungeon, isn’t currently dropping as expected,” the developer said in a post on social media. “We are actively investigating the root cause and discussing options to address this issue as soon as possible. Many thanks to all who have reported the issue and aided in our initial investigations.”
Update 2: Bungie says it is planning to release a fix for this issue later today. “We have identified the underlying issue impacting Finality’s Auger drop rates. We are looking to address this as soon as tomorrow but need to validate the fix and ensure a clean deployment. Alongside this fix, we are also planning to increase drop chances for this exotic when completing Sundered Doctrine activities.”
Since Sunday, there have been multiple reports on the r/DestinyTheGame subreddit as well as on X (Twitter), and it looks like Finality’s Auger’s RNG drop rates might be completely bugged and not dropping for anyone outside of those who completed the dungeon during Contest Mode.
One player, who has completed 128 carries through the dungeon, said they’ve never seen it drop for anyone, which is pretty wild for a weapon that’s supposed to have a random drop rate.
According to data pulled from Light.gg and Bray.tech, the number of players who own Finality’s Auger is exactly the same as the number of players who own the Contest Mode emblem “Last Erasure.” (3.15% and 27,517 players, respectively)
Now, this could be an API bug but it could also mean that not a single drop has been recorded from a normal dungeon clear. That’s either some next-level bad luck or a straight-up bug.
Another player shared that only 18 copies of Finality’s Auger have been recorded on the Warmind stats tracker in the last 24 hours. That’s an incredibly low number considering the dungeon is new and being farmed by thousands of players.
As one Reddit user put it:
“There are currently 217.420 copies of the regular dungeon Emblem that have been redeemed. Only 37,823 of the Contest mode emblem (and no more can be obtained right now). That means out of the other 179,597 first-time clears, none have dropped the exotic. That can only mean two things: either the drop rate chance is less than 0.0005568 % or it’s broken.”
Another user replied, “I’ve done ~60 sherpa runs (two people being taught each), and haven’t seen a single drop. It’s 100% bugged.” Another said: “Did at least 8 runs so far and no one in my parties has gotten it, figure 20 different chances.”
At the time of writing, Bungie has not yet addressed the issue, leaving players frustrated as their weekly loot chances slip away. Considering the dungeon only offers three shots per week (one per character), the longer this goes unfixed, the worse it gets for players hoping to get their hands on Finality’s Auger.
