Here’s the complete guide on how to reach the Deep Desert in Dune Awakening, including all requirements, tips, and what to expect once you arrive.
Dune Awakening is a massive open-world survival MMO that drops players straight into the harsh, beautiful deserts of Arrakis. In this game, you’ll explore, build, and battle to survive, all while collecting valuable resources and making a name for yourself among rival factions.
As you progress through the early and mid-game, you’ll learn to handle the basic threats of Arrakis and get comfortable in areas like Hagga Basin. But that’s just the beginning. The real challenge, and the real rewards, lie out in the Deep Desert, an endgame zone where the stakes are much higher.
This area is packed with unique resources, rare loot, and some of the most intense PvP battles the game has to offer. If you want to compete with the best and earn the top gear, you’ll need to make your way to the Deep Desert.
In this guide, we’ll break down exactly how to reach the Deep Desert in Dune Awakening, what you need to get there, and all the tips you’ll need to survive your first run.
How To Reach The Deep Desert in Dune Awakening
Getting to the Deep Desert isn’t something you can do right away. There are a few important steps and requirements you’ll need to meet before you can enter this high-level area.
First off, you’re going to need an Ornithopter. This is a flying vehicle, and it’s the only way to cross into the Deep Desert. If you don’t have one yet, you’ll want to focus on crafting or acquiring it as soon as you can. Make sure your Ornithopter is fueled up and in good repair before you set out. Check out our detailed guide on how to get an Ornithopter here.
Once you’re ready, head to the edge of the map; any edge will work, but I suggest the Western Shield Wall. As you approach the edge, you’ll notice a blue energy shield barrier. Slow down as you approach, and wait for the prompt that asks if you want to leave your current zone. Confirm that you want to leave, and you’ll be taken to the world map.
On the world map, your Ornithopter shows up as a tiny flying icon. Getting to the Deep Desert is simple, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Traveling on the world map uses up Water and Fuel every second, but there are Water and Fuel depots scattered along the way. Stopping at these for a few seconds will refill your supplies, so don’t worry too much about running out.
To enter the Deep Desert, make your way to the northwest of the giant map using your Ornithopter. You’ll see three purple bars at the bottom of the giant purple circle with the name “Deep Desert.” These are the three possible entrances. If you’re meeting up with friends or your guild, make sure everyone agrees on which entrance to use. When you enter, you’ll spawn on the ground right next to your Ornithopter.
Tip
Where you exit from matters. When you return to the main Hagga Basin map, you’ll come back to the same spot you left from. For example, if you exit from the east, you’ll re-enter from the east. This is important if your base is nearby, so you don’t end up on the other side of the world when you come back.
What You Need Before Entering the Deep Desert
Before setting out, make sure you have everything you need for the trip:
- An Ornithopter (flying vehicle)
- Enough Water and Fuel (can be refilled at depots on the world map)
- Supplies for survival (food, gear, extra probes if you plan on exploring)
- Knowledge of your entry and exit points (so you don’t get stranded far from your base)
- A plan for where to meet friends or your guild (agree on the same entrance)
It’s also smart to be ready for action as soon as you enter the Deep Desert, as you’ll spawn on the ground, not flying. There’s a real risk of being ambushed by other players or, when returning to Hagga Basin, even running into a sandworm right where you land.
What To Expect In The Deep Desert
The Deep Desert is a huge and dangerous zone, with both PvE and PvP areas. The southern part of the Deep Desert is mostly PvE, except for shipwreck locations, which are PvP hotspots and have some of the best loot. The desert is made up of 81 tiles or grids, and each one can be scanned with a probe. You’ll need a total of 81 probes (and about two probe guns) to scan the whole area in one run. Every scanned tile gives you experience points, and if you manage to scan the entire desert, you’ll earn a good chunk of XP.
There are three main entrances into the Deep Desert, and you can use any of them to get in or out as mentioned above. If you want to avoid PvP, your safest bet is to use the map to re-enter through another entrance instead of flying through PvP zones.
The Deep Desert in Dune Awakening is the endgame area for players looking for top-tier rewards, tough competition, and the most exciting battles Arrakis has to offer.
