If you’re a new player or just want a straightforward guide, you’re in the right place.
How to Unlock the Planetologist Class in Dune Awakening
Unlocking the Planetologist takes a bit more effort than the other classes, but it’s totally worth it if you like gathering resources and mastering survival in the wild. Your first step is to look for an NPC named Derek Chinara, who hangs out close to Griffin’s Reach Tradepost. Don’t expect him to stand out, his spot is a little tucked away, so keep an eye out for paths running along the rocky areas nearby
Once you find Chinara, he’ll set you off on a quest that sends you towards a place called Testing Station 2. Getting there means making your way through rocky terrain, but if you stick to the western side of the main formation, you’ll find a path that leads you right in. Inside the testing station, things get a little intense: you’ll need to battle your way through a long stretch full of enemies, almost like a mini-dungeon.
Eventually, you’ll reach a big circular room filled with twisted old trees and a spiral staircase. Head down those stairs and follow the hallway, and you’ll spot a strange green energy door up ahead. Don’t go through it just yet, look around before the door, and you’ll notice a glowing bookshelf nearby.
Inside, there’s a special case holding the Minimic Film you need for Chinara’s quest. Once you’ve grabbed it, just head back and hand it over. Congratulations, you’ve unlocked the Planetologist skill tree and can start picking up all those resource and survival perks.
One thing to remember: Derek Chinara doesn’t always stay in the same place. Once you start his contracts, he moves between different testing stations as you complete them, so you’ll need to follow his trail as you keep unlocking Planetologist abilities.
That’s pretty much all you need to know to unlock both the basic and advanced Planetologist skill trees in Dune Awakening. It’s a bit of a journey, but if you like exploring and picking up rare resources, this path is totally worth your time.
